    Big dog pile- How are those wiggle waggons to drive. Are you pretty much going to the same terminal every night.

    Also with your knowledge of the TL world is it safe to assume you got your start at a TL carrier. Possibly even USA itself?

    Many of us are at the OTR TL carriers because they are the only ones that will take us newbies on. Its tough to get the 2 yrs experience to get on with a good ltl company like yours any other way.

    @dieselweasel

    I didn't say anything about "safety." I was just emphasizing that by embracing technology vs. hiding from it is god for business. I personally have a very well outfited traveling tool box that includes Multi-Atlas Sets of Delorme Gazetteer Maps for the more expansive & less populated states, the rand mc nally truckers atlas (2012), the Rand Mc 710, my telephone, & a laptop to get me where ever the destination because it's my job to get the load from point a to point b.

    Wow. Its been very interesting for me to see what people are using. There is a much wider variety than i thought. Do you also use that Delorme Gazetter for some for some fish and game activities. Could you use it to find the unibombers shack? I am sure I could of used it when I was trying to find a paper mill that was 20 miles out of town near Texarkana Tx.

    What do you consider good pay and do you get to carry an Uzi?

    No, I call them and remind them of our appt. time. If it's two hours later, I remind our logistics guy that we are charged if we are late for a crane. (Never happens)

    Every time we go to a construction yard, there's no crane and they try to say we are late. I call and check in, then I call to explain the situation. Our logistics guy calls and says, "They charge detention. You have two hours."

    I only do it since a crane yard in Houston kept us for 6 hours, for no reason. We lost a load. Now, I do it to everyone.

    I only INSIST on detention if we are kept 4 hours. I drive our logistics guy crazy about our money. Invariably, there are 3-4 other guys. I encourage them to call, as well.

    You would be surprised what you can find with Google and a couple of questions.

    Ive been looking into alot of companies, its hard being just shy of 6 months, its either insurance don't cover me or they don't take people
    That had gotten fired, I'm hoping someone will
    Give me a chance, recruiter for Willis Shaw was saying they would take me, then dropped
    My application the sameday I was supposed to be getting my bus ticket, just need the experience most of the self-insured companies don't seem to wanna bight looking like temp work for awhile and just keep filling out them apps and hoping I get a second chance somewhere, feel a little more level headed about the whole thing, definitely wouldn't take it for granted

    It's very eazy to pull the wiggle wagons, you can make turns much better... And yes I did TL for 1 year before I moved on to LTL. I started with a company called WESTWAY. big ole red WWs on the trailers. Their gone now but they had a sister company called NATIONS WAY..union LTL shop.. LTL linehaul is 96% term to term.. No sitting at recievers & shippers for me in many many years...:biggrin_25519::biggrin_25519:
