Drop yards are all over the place. Terminals are a smaller number. Beside west valley the is on in Fontana CA, and Conley GA. There are 'terminals' in Irving TX and Henderson CO. The latter two are more or less just fancy drop yards, though if your are unlucky you can get your truck worked on in Henderson. The one in TX actually is for Central Freight. Plus we can go to a few of the Swift terminals.

I personally have spent the night at the Swift terminals in Ocala FL and Jonestown, PA.

Actually it is the DM job to let the planner know your available and to keep on the planner till you are not.. It's your job to let your DM know you are available and to keep on your DM till you are not.. . It's the planners job to get the loads out and to tell the DM why a particular truck can't have a particular load. It is a rather interesting process that can break way to easy if someone fails ro communicate.

I watched that process in action when I was in West Valley. My truck had been left red tagged after it was repaired. I told my DM I was ready, he told the planner to get me back east, She told him she couldn't because of the red tag. My DM got OTRM to lift the red tag and told the planner it was off. I was dispatched before I got my butt out of the chair. FYI the DM can Mac 11 on your behalf if you can't for some reason.. I.e. You are logged out of your truck, but they do need your approval. it shows in the system as acknowledged by DM not the driver.

I used to live in SLC. I can tell you this about the lake ... the colors are from the salts and minerals it contains. If you go visit make sure it's NOT in August. The smell of dead brine shrimp (the only living thing in the lake other than bacteria and other single cells) could knock over a water buffalo.

The wife and I were out there one day. The wind was pushing 30mph, and I swear the water is so thick there was barely a ripple on the water (salt syrup). Just thought I throw that in the central pot.

Keep the hammer down and the rubber goin round.

I have been getting 2500+ when I don't take time off. Last week I got durn close to 5000 legal miles... Not to mention some local pay, layover, detention and short haul bonus.. It was probably a once in a lifetime deal...
