The ladder is swung out in that pic...it will be swung in when its "road ready". That ladder actually swings in farther on the Case which makes it easier to see around that wheel...but then it blocks the "hole" between the frame and the wheel.

You can see pretty good behind you by using that "hole" but its only there on the drivers side...its about a foot wide and 2 feet tall on a Deere, slightly smaller on the Case.

I leave the ladder out 1 notch on the Case machines (with wheels on) so I can use the hole...I like being able to see behind me.

When loaded with the wheels off...there are no holes to see through...I'm loading a new Case 8120 with the wheels off here in a few minutes...I'll add a pic later.

Ya gotta love those weeks when everything just falls into place...

The combine from hell (shown above) wasn't so bad after all...

Load 1 (the combine from hell)
Merril, OR to North Sioux City, SD...miles = 405 empty, 1638 loaded

    Load 2
North Sioux City, SD to Perry, IA...miles = 0 empty, 156 loaded (short haul pay....means I got paid for 350 miles)

    Load 3
North Sioux City, SD to Bryant, SD...miles = 156 empty, 182 loaded

    Load 4
Grand Island, NE to Wapheton, ND...miles = 301 empty, 434 loaded

Load 5 (on the trailer now...will be delivered tomorrow)
Tappen, ND to North Sioux City, SD...miles = 183 empty, 420 loaded

Thats 4,069 miles...all done safe and legal...in 9 days (but it all falls on one weeks check). That comes to $2,215 gross pay for the week (wish that happened every week)

I will be pretty much out of hours after I get this combine unloaded tomorrow...which is OK by me, I'm kinda tired anyway. I will enjoy my weekend in North Sioux City :biggrin_25518:

I hope you meant net pay, not gross pay for the pay period.

Thanks for your post, I enjoy your post

Nope...I meant gross pay (as in before anything comes out of it)...the net should be around $1,700 (I had a $150 cash advance on that week).

$1,700 a week ain't bad money in my neck of the woods!

Most weeks I manage to clear around $12-1300, week before last was a bit short at 2,500 miles...

Hope you had a nice vacation. You might want to try the third strap across the middle you have a problem with coming loose or walking. You going to the farms or to the dealers. The only thing I don't like about going to the farms make sure you keep your windows rolled up or you'll leave with 50 flies in the truck. LOL glad you had a great week. Drive safe and keep us posted wish you the best of luck.

Both farms and dealers...but mostly farms...and you're right about the flies.

I did add a 3rd strap to those tires...they still walked...it mostly had to do with the rough roads I was driving on I think.

    I did have a nice vacation...just wasn't long enough.

Awsome thread! Makes me think a great deal on trying to get on with the specialized division after i graduate with my cdl. I've been around heavy equipment all my life, more construction than farm. but you sure got me interested in this!! Thank You!!!!
