I live near the I-15 in the Cajon Pass area. On my way home from work about 6 months ago at about 2 in the morning, I saw a Schneider truck rolled over on the UPHILL grade of northbound I-15, just north of the 138. It was laying completely on it's side in the #3 lane. How do you roll a governed truck going UPHILL on a 7% grade in clear, dry weather ? No other vehicles involved either. I was still scratching my head over that one. On a different note, as a tanker driver, just SLOW DOWN. If the curve says 35mph, take it at 25 mph or less. Don't make abrupt lane changes or turns and always try and drive for what is up ahead.

Do you know whether that Schneider was loaded or not? If I remember, Cajon can get quite gusty at times.

ten years ago, Old Dominion, WB I-70 at Idaho Springs, middle of winter but dry roads, middle of the night. Laid the second pup on it's side then high centered the cab on divider for the exit ramp. Con-gear never detached.

I'm glad to see some common sense and professionalism here. Whatever happened to good old defensive driving? Do the CDL schools teach that all accidents involving trucks are caused by a "4" wheeler? And do they ever touch on the subject of watch for the other guy?
It doesn't take tanker drivers to show that being a professional is for all truck drivers. The object of the job is not getting from point A to point B as fast as you can. The object is to get there the safest and quickest way, legally. Plus on top of that, keeping your truck running like it's new. No matter who owns the truck and no matter what company it is you should always do your best for yourself. Of course there's more and this is only my 2¢ but we can all do better by starting with our own driving. And the safety bonus always helps too!chalupa Thanks this.
