7on7off R 14/7

They have something the call a "Family Plan". I forget exactly how it works but I know you can take up to 12 days off but it is slip seat so you will not keep the same truck.

 

They have a couple of different options, the recruiter might know what they are. Basicly you are out for a set period and then you are off for a set period. Usually it involves 3 drivers rotating duty around 2 trucks. Swift calls it the family plan just to make it attractive to drivers that want to spend more time at home. It is simply slip seating. I think they also might do it with 2 drivers and 1 truck, just not sure because I have no interest in doing it myself.

 

the real question would be...can you afford to run that few a number of days and take anything home to support the family or yourself? Especially at the low wage of a new driver?!

 

Isn't it, min. 2 weeks out then 2 to 12 days off for anyone?
I thought after 4 days off they want to take the truck from you guys and gals. I guess it's just slip seating with the choice of how hard you want to run?

 

The recruiter I talked to said they have two "family plans." A 7/7 and a 7/14. They don't work for me for several reasons, but for someone needing hometime and not caring about the truck they drive, it might work. But that was "then" and this is "now" so make sure you validate anything with your own recruiter.

 

Yeah I suppose if you had nothing else to pay for and your kids are grown and gone, it would work other wise the saying goes, you aint earnin if your wheels aint turnin.. I know I couldn't afford it so on the road it is!
