I believe he was referring to the old saying that slamming your thumb in the door puts you in the right frame of mind (POed) to drive a Detroit (drive it like you HATE it) but that was in reference to a "screamin' jimmy", not a four stroke.
Oh, and CAT all the way, N-14 Cummins in a pinch and someone else can have the S-60's. -
well being there are no newer macks, they stopped with those in like 99 or 2000 and cats stopped in 2011, only choice left is navistar (international), detroit, cummins, or mercedes so you lose before you even get to the start line lol

Comparing Cummins to Volvo engines the winner is Cummins. Better fuel economy, better pulling power, and better engine braking.
Comparing Cummins to Detroit engines I have found the Detroits are cheaper to repair and seem to get better fuel economy. These comparisons are for the years 2000 thru 2006 models. -
Currently, there is thePaccar MX in Petes and KWs alng with Cummins, Maxxforce is all you can get in a new International.
MP in a Mack but it's made by, and a subsidiary of, Volvo, In a Volvo it's Volvo or Cummins, I don't keep up much with the Macks, but many OTR Mack operations have been switching to Volvo.
Freightliner has DD13,15 and 16 now available, but I have never seen a 16 or talked to someone who has driven one. FL also has the ISX Cummins available, I looked at 3 new Cascadias in Fremont, IN, 2 had the Cummins. The Series 60 is no longer listed as available in new FLs, nor is the MBE4000.
Used trucks have the 3 mentioned by the original poster, as well as Volvo and Mercedes depending on the make of the truck. Gliders also have engines no longer available in new OEM trucks. -
Thank you for all your answers. Sorry about the spelling, didn't even notice LOL

MOTOR - that which imparts motion, esp. a machine supplying motive power - an internal combustion engine, oil or gasoline driven - a rotating machine (e.g. a generator) transforming electrical into mechanical energy sometimes vice versa

Theres some great engines out there. I like CAT myself. The old Detroits sounded way cool, the 465 is nice, after it's worked on some, Cummins was ok back in it's day. You can't kill a Mack.
