Hey thanks for the info U2. I was nominated twice for driver of the month, but never got it. I guess you took it from me! :biggrin_25525: I still didn't hesitate to use my free Prime bucks though!

I took a vacation in July, my first one, and asked if I could combine it with hometime. The answer was no. If I pressed the issue, I'm sure I could have had it extended, but it wasn't a huge deal so I just took my 7 days off. So who knows what the actual company policy is. I guess it's simply a case by case basis. And in my time with Prime, I learned most rules and policies can be bent or even downright broken at times. Do your job and they'll work with you.

Hope your vacation is going well!

Evert, you have some bad info on Roehl. I'm sitting in the Motel but for good reason. One more day of orientation for this newbie. Then I'll sit here Tuesday for a reset so I can go on the road with a trainer. Wed. or Thurs. I should be gone. Don't have a clue who is sitting in a motel except the new trainees. The last group finished last Mon. and were all gone by wed. noon. 9 Days intense orientation with lot's of drive time. Nice hotel and they feed me good. They have newbie trainees each week going with them. I have talked to several drivers in their new Appleton yard and two of them had left others to come to Roehl. The reason? Not being treated with respect and the lack of miles. Before you give up on them you could give them a call and talk to them, you can't believe everything you read here. Just sayin........
Good luck where ever you go Evert.

Hey Mike I am in the market for a new career, just earned my CDL A permit, and am looking into either Prime or Swift, They both look good, but I am leaning toward Prime, and was looking into any negative comments for either and came across your blog, thanks for the 411 on Prime, It is moving me toward them.
However, My question is on down time, do you take the vehicle home or do you need to bring it into a depot?
I live in Mass...( will take all apologies, lol) and know they have some routes near to here.
Does Prime have enough work to keep everyone going or is there alot of downtime.
I do not mind seeing the country (looking forward to it actually) but I do have a son that is 16 and would like to be there for the special times he has left before becoming an adult! LOL
Thanks for the great post that got me to sign in here, hope the Web Business is going well.

Mike is long gone... decided the inside of a cubical looked better than the view out of a truck.

Get a load to the home 20, deliver, drop trailer at an agreed location, bobtail home. Reverse process on the way out.

They keep me plenty busy. What's "down time" - oh yeah... that's what the flatbed division calls what they do! LOL!!

    Shouldn't be a problem...
