Charlotte NC Pilot closed for a minute...

    Was closed yesterday and dark. Same thing today. Entrances are blocked, but truck exit open. Plenty of trucks in the parking spaces. Not sure what is going on. No fuel, showers, Subway, nothing. Completely dark inside and no lights on. Pumps taped off, doors taped off....

    Just an FYI.

    I'm hoping they're going to tear it down and use the present lot and the one just north of it (now vacant) to grow it a bit. Fortunately, our operating center is just the other side of 85, so I seldom have cause to go in there, unless I have to scale a load (which I tried to the other day...went in for the scale ticket and was told "it didn't go through". I left without it and scaled later).

    that place ( and the staff there ) is about as useless as tits on a bull

    It was a fire on Monday that shut it down. Some bad wiring in the stock room started it. They have the ceilings completely down and are rewiring tonight. Apparently it got pretty bad before they got everyone out of there. Will be closed at least through next week for the cleanup/rebuild.

    That adjacent lot is the old hotel and the restaurant building in front of it is a strip joint. I'm betting that Pilot wouldn't buy that property next to it if they had the chance. Just a bad place for a truck stop. They need to go up 77 a few miles and grab all that land on the east side where the old truck stop used to be. It's been closed for a while I think.

    we ended up going down the road less then 5 miles and stayed at the charlotte travel plaza which is a shell and actually not bad.theres a dennys,waffle house and jack in the box close by.Also was pretty quiet with noone bothering us...
