The weather here has been fantastic in Virginia...Don't know if you are back yet but doing great here. Spent the last few days driving in West (By God) Virginia and the colors are just starting to turn there so Fall is on the way.
Looks like I'll start with Van Wyk out of Waynesboro Monday and do some training for a few weeks till they make sure my skills are up to par. Reading your posts made me want to go with Van Wyk.
Had a lot of offers but hard to find any negative posts with Van Wyk and that is just not the case with all the others.
Sure I'll meet you along the way.

Well, welcome aboard. It's the best time trucking I've had yet.
(So says I, 4 months in).10plus8 Thanks this. -
10plus8,
Welcome, and I'm sure you'll do fine with Bernard whipping you into shape. Nope not back yet, currently in Illinois, the home of Barry Obama, err, Barack. Probably won't get back until Monday? A good company, but I don't have any others to compare it to, but overall not a bad place. Now some of the shippers and receivers, well, that's another story. Nature of the beast, I guess you could say.

I have been bumping docks while in school as they take some loads to offset costs and it is amazing the different personality of different businesses. Some are so friendly and others act like they are going to kill each other...and you if you get in the way

Thanks and looking forward to learning.

Thanks so much!
Big change but I believe a good one. I strongly believe those trucking food type goods will be the most likely to have work at all over the next few years so I firmly believe Van Wyk is a solid choice and they are willing to take a chance on me as well so all is good!!!
Look forward to putting faces to handles over the next few weeks/months.

Spending a 34 in Sheldon, the weather was nice, now just clouds. Well all I can say is WOW, regarding the new KW's. Heading back to Virginia tomorrow with a load from Storm Lake to my favorite, Food Lion in Disputanta, but that's ok it's close to home. I will see how the new girl pulls those hills on I70.

New ride, yay!
She won't pull the hills though. Like I said to hawk, you'll need to crank out about 30k miles before the engine is really broken in and gives you all of its oomph.
So it might feel like it's laying down on you, but be patient and gentle, and in 3 months she'll come around.
(EDIT: I only know this because I broke in two brand new cummins powered pete 387s at my last job. The first month can be alarming (wimpy-wise) if you don't know that better times are coming) -
your going to be in for a ride lol... mines felt like it pulled a little bit better this week, the only thing that sucks is it gets a little bit more of an downhill run compared to the previous KW's and Petes... i've spent 60% on Cruise Control but have 55% percent overspeed...... im trying to be lite on the ol thing because i truly dont want to have the same problem i had with my previous KW's...
but it sounds like everytime you crank the truck it does a mini regen or something.. i remember doing parked regens in my truck and it has that type of sound... oh well off to Livonia, MI tomorrow for Monday Morning, i just hope and pray they have Overnight Parking!!!! -
Well I know she's going to be weak for a while until she's broke in and yes she likes going down hill, real fast. It's all good though, nice new car smell and she rides much better than the Pete. Now for some new Rainx wipers, gotta get rid of those cheapo OEM blades. It dawned upon me (duh) that I'm not taking I70 east after all, I'm going back on US35 through Ohio then wild and wonderful West Va on I64. So in short, I'll see how many JB Hunt trucks can pass me!
