I am new to the trucking world but not new to living out of a back pack. If space is critical you just can't ever go wrong with the Jet Boil. It is VERY efficient and typically around $100.00 http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/63556?feat=69055-ppxs&dds=y
I found out that I can make dried food, MAREs, (Meals Almost Ready to Eat) that just need hot water to make ready. All you have to do is mix up the foods in zip lock bags and for neatness vacuum seal them together in a food saver type vacuum bag and wala...meals that just take minuets to make ready.
You can pack in all kinds of condiments as well into each meal which works well for back packing but in a truck you have room to store larger spices and utmost importantly...Hot Sauce
The choices are only limited by your immiganition...so if you have little this might not be the right route for youBUT if you want to control what is going into your body then this is something to consider.
Bestest to all

we have tried many of the appliances out there for cooking in the truck. when it comes right down to it, we all have a solution to the problem. as for the mares, misfit has had his fill of those when in the army. however, we do keep a few things that dont have to be cooked or heated in any way and are easy to throw together. im not always with him so i really try to make it as easy as possible.
its taken some time, but we have figured out the storage problem for the most part. it was just a try it and see how it works, and believe me we have come up with some creative solutions without having to spend a fortune in the stores. -
No matter what, this is a great thread to point out that there are alternatives to eating hamburgers every day.
Another great thing about the Jet Boil is mine has a French Press built in so I can make a great tasting cup o Joe quickly.
Best to you

we just use a coffee pot from walmart. not expensive and does the job. all the ones we tried that plug into the cigarette lighter take an hour or more to brew a pot of coffee. we have a pot that has a timer on it so we just set it up the night before and its ready when we get up. i like having the coffee ready as soon as im up

Again, WOW you go all out.

P.S. Mr. Coffee and Black and Decker still make a under cabinet mount coffee maker. The carafe is glass not metal like the ones I mentioned above.kd5icr Thanks this. -
