OTR Trucking, Should he do Teams or Solo?

    well the way I understand it is I am going to get paid .175 cents a mile... so there's no way that can be split... is there?

    Nope, that's your portion. Which is fine if you guys push 5k or more miles/week.

    But when you have a crappy week and only get 3k for whatever reason, whoever is at home waiting on $$ to keep the lights on is gonna get upset.

    If you get 3k miles as a team you should quit on the spot. 5500 mile weeks should be bad weeks.

    Breakdowns happen. Case in point. My husband and his trainer are sitting in hotel rooms for the 3rd night in a row...

    Ok, I get that gamers think that I'm a guy. But when it clearly states TRUCKER'S WIFE up there, I gotta say.....um...I'm a wee bit miffed.

    this is just personal opinion, but why would anyone want to team?, when your day of driving is over, your hungry?, go in and eat, need to use a restroom?, go in and use athe restroom,

    I teamed for six months straight out of school with a O/O. Take my advice and tell him to do Solo. Personally, I believe solo is the way to go as you do not have to adapt to sleeping while the truck is moving. Plus you make the decisions and do not have to them jointly. You can set up your truck the way you want too without giving thought to the other persons feelings.

    Spot on. Most of the times I got a long with my team mate but when we disagreed, it was not like I could walk away. Someone has to drive to get the load there on time reguardless of how one feels and disagreements will occur. Trust me. Try living someone in a 6' x 8x 8 box and will disagree at some point. Being a solo driver means there is not that issue. With a big company it can be easy to switch trainers but team mates. Heck no. You will go back to the terminal and get a list. Then you have to interview each one. When you go solo, you avoid all that.

    After having just spent 3 weeks in a truck with a jack**s of a trainer, I have absolutely no desire to run team. To each their own, but as a new driver I would much prefer to run solo if given the option.

    When my "team-mate" is found I'll switch over to team div. too She is 26, dark tan, blonde hair, blue eyes, perky "large c" breasts, beautiful smile, 120 lbs, smart as a whip, can back into dock 3 at Joplin Tamko first stab, can navigate I-95 thru NYC blindfolded, eats like a bird, never farts, pees twice a day, likes the same music I like, great sense of humor, get's Victoria's Secret points every month, politicaly conservative, makes extra money in wet t-shirt contests, looks good in jeans, fills out a sweater great, has been known to smoke a cigar and sip good tequila, and can chain-up at truckee in 15 minutes.

    Can't wait to find her. I'll keep you guys posted because I'm sure any day now we'll find each other and we'll make enough in 4 years to retire to a beach house in Mexico! :biggrin_255:
