My 06 KW was lucky to break 6mpg. The 99 International I'm running now gets 7.1mpg at 70mph with 3 times as many miles on it. And it has less squeaks and rattles than most any truck I've ever driven. The newer ones are all made of squeaky plastic panels with as few screws as possible to hold them together. Drove me nuts.

it is not all. Older trucks run better on bad roads. Frames and axes are more tought. No silly weight reducing
-
Yep, there are things I love in new trucks, like ECAS, EBS, Disk Brakes (but of the last generation, and I do not like Haldex Calipers!) -
but problem is those old good trucks are extinct
you cant find anymore f2000 in good condition -
Yeah. But pre emission US trucks are availeble.
The other way some companies do now - rebuild old cabovers from USA and Europe. Here international 9600 and 9800 are beloved. -
generally we don't have problems with rattles or squeaks , cabs here are all steel construction for safety (we've no hoods for protection) they are well screwed together and our cabs are on four point suspension keeping the cabs floating above the chassis so that helps alot -
i am more familiar with them
but this days it is hard to find driver who would drive truck older than 7years
and fuel consumption is very important thingScania man Thanks this. -
i dont know is that egr such bad or they want to get cheaper solution ( i mean that they stay old engines not new ) -
