It would be interesting to see how much money it cost prime to defend itself in that lawsuit, and how much it is likely to cost them to look at each possible allegation on a "case by case" basis,as opposed to having a policy in place to prevent things from happening.
But then again, apparently the company should not have the right to protect itself. ###### if they do ,###### if they don't.Corporal_Clegg and Tazz Thank this. -
What about the possibility of stopping the women, few or many, who take advantage of every opportunity they get to falsely accuse some man or company of harassment?

I really don't think he was serious. I firmly believe he was teasing.
Quite frankly, I'm getting tired of the danged if you do danged if you don't mentality. It's called common sense, which was lacking in that crazy policy. Why is it Prime is the target, when there are so many other companies with deeper pockets who do allow cross gender training and are not being sued?
Oh. That's right. People have choice at those other companies. -
I suppose you must be color blind. Did you not see the little pink smiley icon at the end of the post??!! -
Common sense is also lacking in crazy, frivolous lawsuits, over which people and companies have to spend money defending themselves against.
Oh, That's right. Companies shouldn't have a choice in protecting themselves. -
I don't think you are as tired of it as much as prime is though.

I agree that in some instances no matter which way you go or what you do it will put you or your company in jeopardy. There was a time in this country when people would sit down and try to reason with one another. Today, if someone doesn't get their way about something or has any sort of problem, then the first thing they seem to want to do is hire a lawyer and file a lawsuit. I am a firm believer that most issues can be diffused with good communication. -
It's one thing to whine about not getting your way. It's another entirely to throw up barriers to employment and advancement, however inadvertently in a misconceived effort to "protect women" when, in fact, it had nothing to do with that. Prime was trying to protect Prime.
What they did was set up a system in which they knew it would take longer for women to start earning money. That is a barrier to advancement. Additionally, in some cases, they had it set up to block advancement altogether, based solely on gender. I was completely blocked from advancement into the tanker division based on this ridiculous policy they placed.
The woman in this lawsuit probably quit a job in order to go work for Prime. She showed up in good faith, did her part and then sat and watched while every single one of her male classmates got on trucks and began earning money. She waited. And waited. She was sent home, still having not earned a penny, to wait for weeks until she could begin earning a paycheck. Why? Because she has indoor plumbing. that's it.
What you guys are missing, with all of the extraneous details you are throwing in, is the net result of this policy, which was discrimination against women. Period.
The reason they did it doesn't matter any more than the reason the drunk driver, who killed your brother, was drinking in the first place.deanna888 Thanks this. -
