Full moon proved me right again. Had a fella in a car yesterday morning on the interstate at 105 mph. Sitting in a crossover shooting laser when I see him coming. As he passes my location the car in front of him was running 85 mph, he nearly runs over top of them, abruptly changing lanes. I chase him over 1 mile before he finially figures out that I would want to stop him. Walk up, low and behold a bottle of Absolute nearly finished off lying in the floor. The rear taillight is busted out, the right rear quarter panel, bumper is caved in and ripped from the original attachements. Get the fella out, he's falling down holding onto the car, which was a rental car. Long story short, guy has a suspended license, been out to the club all night and was trying to get to his girlfriends house. He still has no clue what he hit, he actually thought I was joking that his rental car was cracked up. Blew a .16 on breath. Oh I forgot, he was getting ready to go to one of the CDL schools next month because he wanted to be a beer truck driver.
Just some of the stupid things I see

I think you found yourself an optimist! -
At least he wasn't doing 105mph in a beer truck with a empty 24 pack next to him coming back from the distribution warehouse and going to his girlfriends before he starts his early morning run.
?. How come all cars or most cars can do between 110mph lower end cars to 230mph top end cars where their isn't one state to even drive that fast legally in the U.S.A? Think 80mph is max limit in some states. Other than that you gotta take your car on a race track and how many % of people actually do that? -
@TAZZ. Fyi...Ohio still has split speeds on highways and state routes.....just not interstates. It sucks

He'll be on these forums next week b****ing about how unfair it is that a DUII in a POV counts against him getting a CDL. And some will agree with him.

My point was valid though. People celebrated the limited change in Ohio, but will steadily post that the Feds should keep their nose out of our industry. Kinda like they vilify the ATA but somehow cheer them for requesting no change to the HOS, or at least no change for now.
The mob is a fickle bunch both in this industry and in the country. Someone can be the most evil insufferable prick in creation, right until he says something about an issue you do not like. Why then he will become the pinnacle of wisdom and light. See people do not like to think as evidenced right here on this board. Posters have taken a position based on anothers thoughts. No cognitive function mind you just a blind agreement or disagreement with a person instead of a logical thought process making a determination.
But probably best left for another discussion. Back to your point yes OH still holds legislative power over their roads, but the Fed did brow beat them into changing interstate driving. Well starved them into it would be more accurate as it was highway funds being withheld.Bart69Rich Thanks this. -
That speed limit was something the State of Ohio put in place, then rescinded. They may have gotten leaned on by the federal guv'mint, but that came from Columbus, not DC.
So yes, I believe the Feds should mind their own biz and stay out of mine. -
In this case, the issue was limits set by the state on federal interstates. So unless the state wanted to take over full responsibility for maintaining the interstates, they had to listen to the feds. Since that's what the majority of people wanted, I don't see it as stepping on state's rights. Ohio still had full rights to say no, they just couldn't take up the responsibility.
Les2, Tazz and Bart69Rich Thank this. -
So, the big questions that are here.
1. Did you let him go to his girl friend?
2. Did you give him a warning so that his future would not be hurt?
3. Did you give him a night to reconsider everything?
I really hope you kept a straight face when you booked him.
