What a minute guys.. Doncha know that if it's on the internet "it must be true?"
The ripoffreports.com is in itself is a rip off! 5 star hotels and restaurants have bad reviews. Of course the didn't get all those stars by having lots of bad ones, just saying.
We already know that there are fake profiles on this forum like recruiters for carriers, for example that post comments with their own agenda. Who's to say that some of the bad reviews on the ripoffreports are not from someone's competition? What if 5 or 10 individuals from one company posted negative reviews about another company or product? Does that make it true? Those negative reviews would sure make someone's rating go down though, right?
Would the size of the company play a factor? A carrier like Swift that has 14,000 tractors with God knows how many trailers, how can you compare them to a carrier with 1,500 tractors operating? Wouldn't reviews, good or bad be relative to the size of the carrier? A company the size of Swift (This is just an example, BTW) could easily have more bad reviews than others based on their size alone! So is one to automatically assume that because Swift has more negative reviews that it makes them worse off than someone else? Hardly! There are so many factors that it would take a company that specialized in these types of studies in order to conclude anything. Like the amount of runs made per year. Or how much business the carrier does per week, per month, per quarter, per year and average it all out. Are all the companies nation wide? Some carriers don't don't go to certain regions. Is that factored in? A carrier like Swift goes to Canada and Mexico and many carriers do not. Do any of the reviews, good or bad come from outside the U.S.? All of this makes a huge difference and I have only pointed out a fraction of the variables!
A few years ago I worked for a carpet cleaning company who was literally the best in town. There were a couple negative comment reviews on a board and my boss (owner) asked us employee's that if we wanted to, it would be great if we would pose as a "customer" and write a simple short review to help the rating to go back up. (I didn't) Who's to say that even positive reviews are true and legitimate?
A big mistake made by the original poster is making it appear as if DOT is the best. There's a red flag! It would have been better to have posted a carrier list alphabetically from a single source, in this case, the ripoffreports with the number of negative reviews to each, so as to not appear biased. About the only thing the OP got right was predicting that he was "certain this post will attract negative attention" but not just from the "real recruiters" on this board, but the smarter than he thought "real truckers" on this board.
As someone else posted there is the whole driver element too. What the driver thinks, feels, wants or is looking for in a company that works best for he or she. And you can not factor that without interviewing each and every driver out there at Aallllll the different carriers and using the same exact questionnaire.
Now I'm sure that the OP'er had the intention in being informational by putting together a "Best & Worst" carrier list for the benefit of everyone. However a logical person has got to admit that it is nearly impossible to make this list. And for this list? There is no science applied here.
jdrentzjr Thanks this. -
Best company I ever worked for was the Yellow Cab Co in Manhattan. I learned to drive in the big city and left knowing how to speak Muslim. Just like the OP, this is my opinion, and we all know what they're like.

Am I speaking good enough American when I say that I didnt know Muslim was a language?Nycmex77 Thanks this.
-
Yup....I really meant anyone from a Muslim country that speaks their native tongue. If you ever rode in a NYC cab you would know exactly what I meant. The next closest thing to that would be to walk into any convenience store or motel. I'm quite sure you know exactly what I mean.

Speaking of Muslims, I'm currently reading the Qur'an and I love it. It is such a great and wonderful book. I highly recommend it to all. Along that line, it's OK w/ me if I even get 100 replys doubting the truth of my intentions, and such. Sufficient unto me is God for a witness. Sufficient unto me is God for a protector. Sufficient unto me is God for a helper.

"Sufficient unto [YOU] would be to practice humility."
As I have stated in my prior post, I I never had any doubt of your intentions and that you are trying to be helpful. However there are major, obvious flaws in your "ranking system" as you call it. And this isn't a matter of some people's disagreeable opinions. It is a monumental task to come up with a list like the one you attempted to do which is why corporations hire specialty companies to come up with them. You have no scientific data to support any conclusions. The ripoffreport.com is in itself a scam, unscrupulously victimizing individuals and companies. You have not done your research as to the validity of your source the ripoffreports.com. Here is an excerpt from an article I found within 60 seconds by google search.
"RipOff Report's high search engine visibility has led many companies and individuals to become victimized and embarrassed due to complaints that typically don't have any merit. We've read case after case in which people claim that competitors are simply abusing the authenticity of RipOffReports by placing falsified reports on the website. Allowing people to post anonymously is reason for suspect alone, and once a post has gone live on RipOffReports.com there is no way to remove it." http://www.reportsripoff.com/ripoffreportscam.php
The Qur'an reminds us: "And the servants of the Merciful are those who walk on the earth in humility...." (Qur'an 25:63) Of course this is referring to one's humility toward Allah, however one must practice humility in one's life to be able to have humility towards God.
"The root of humility comes from an awareness of the Majesty of God and the Purity of His attributes, awe towards His Presence, and thankfulness for His Mercy. Anything undertaken without humility is tainted - humility is necessary for there to exist a real purity of intention. Without humility all actions are colored and deflected from a true course by the touch of ego, arrogance, capricious desire, personal ambition, or pride." Tafsir (Sura 7 verses 94, 95) Prosperity and Humility http://bit.ly/qd4p0o
greenllll it's ok to admit that you are mistaken or wrong. I welcome anyone at anytime to point it out to me. Sometimes it doesn't feel good, in fact it my even be embarrassing, but it does teach us as human beings how to be humble. People tend to have more respect for those that admit their mistakes. And Allah does too.
Best regards -

Ripoff Reports is worse. A company can PAY to have it removed.
So based on the OP's process, CRE could pay several thousands of dollars to have all the complaints "investigated" with the end result of them not being valid and they would jump to the top of the list.
And can you really call it a list when it is one company?
-
Exactly my point, U2Exit. ANY review or rating should be question as to it's validity. What source rated it? Is it a trustworthy organization recognized by other authorities? Are the ratings coming from users of the product or service? Many times those types of reviews are the ones that should be taken with a grain of salt because of bias.
BigBadBill is on the same page too.. If you can pay to have negative reviews removed (which is extortion on ripoffreports.com!) then the ones with the deepest pockets can control the outcome if they so choose. So where is the accuracy in the ratings now?
One last thing. The title of this thread / rating is: "The Official Best Trucking Company"
What does "official" mean in this context and purpose?
official [əˈfɪʃəl] adj.
1.Of or relating to an office or a post of authority: official duties.
2.Authorized by a proper authority; authoritative: official permission.
3.Holding office or serving in a public capacity: an official representative.
4.Characteristic of or befitting a person of authority; formal: an official banquet.
Neither greenllll or the ripoffreports.com have been appointed as a proper authority to anything, nor do either have the authority to be of a trusting source of information for anything.
"Unofficial Best Trucking Company" would be a wiser choice for a title because it does not suggest authenticity. However the term "unofficial" is used so loosely these days that the "un" is not taken seriously.
