Go with Maverick, my opinion they are a better company. Or you might try Watkins Shepherd.

The right for a jury trial is available for all charges.

I called WS and they said that as long as I have a ticket pending there is nothing they can do. I am also 16 miles outside of there hiring zone anyway so it would be more of a pain anyway with them. I don't understand why Maverick can let me work for them with the same thing going on!

Sni is kind of anal retentive about the driving records of students, and reckless driving is a big no-no for them, they don't consider the circumstances involved in the issuing of a ticket just the ticket itself and if there is any possibility of a conviction, they will pass on you in a heartbeat, at least until it is settled with a lesser charge conviction or exoneration on all charges. If you are convicted of reckless driving you may as well forget them for at least three years. Get the lawyer and go from there, and good luck to you.

I don't know anything about Maverick , they only started hiring in this area in the past year and I haven't been interested in them, I have enough trouble doing what I do now, without having to tarp a flatbed.

I don't know where you are getting your information, but in every jurisdiction I know (I don't know all of them), the right to a jury trial applies only to criminal charges, not civil infractions. There is a distinction. Now if this is reckles driving that is a misdomeanor in many jurisdictions and, therefore a crime that qualifies for a jury trial. But a simple moving violation that only rises to the level of a civil infraction does not qualify anywhere that I am aware of. Where did you practice law? I'd be interested t know if some jurisdictions do give a jury right for civil infractions.

I just came back from court so I can now speak with some authority on this issue. To boil it all down I filled out the paper work to go to a jury trial. It will be in about 1 year. Sometime before that I will meet with the solicitors office and they will try to settle the case there. I called a lawyer and they said there is nothing that they can do to help. They said the solicitors office will take the ticket down to something that makes everyone happy to make the case go away. The cop was no help to me and would not let me talk at all. He kept cutting me off when I would try to speak. He told me that the kid would not have died so I acted off of emotions and he thinks now I will know better. I was so mad not because he wouldn't do anything about helping me but because he would not let me speak at all. So I have a question for you guys. Do I try to push forward with Maverick or go to swift who says they don't care about it (per the recruiter)?

If the State Trooper was actually tring to help you now all he had to do is not come to court that day and you can plead not guilty and it would be thrown out. I would be real careful on this one or it could bite you in the rear. I would get it cleared up first before starting any school, because once you start and they have time invested in you and it comes back to haunt you and they end up sending you home with a bill for their services and no CDL.

Many of these company sponsored schools drop a high ratio of students each class and send most of them home with a bill for school and no CDL. Happens all the time just read these forums.

You need to think about where you want to be in 2 years not today.
Don't go with Swift. Be patient and clear up your record.
If you can convince a jury that you were trying to save the
boys life and were not endangering any one elses why would
they convict? I am not a lawyer, but if I were on a jury
I would nulify the charges and you would walk out with no points IMO.
I would work at Walmart for a year before I would go with Swift.
    Even on the cash register.

I understand. I have been in contact with Maverick and they know all about the situation in detail. They said that since there is nothing on my record it will be fine. I explained that it is going to be taken down to a lesser charge per the officer I have been dealing with but it may be 6 months to a year before this happens. They said they may ask for some proof of the boys condition but since everything els is clear as can be on my record they said it won't be an issue.

Are you saying to still wait or cover myself with a paper trail along the way. The way I see it is the police officer is saying it will be a long time before I even talk to the solicitor and if I go to a jury about a year. Maverick is only a 6 month commitment so I think I would be safe even if they wanted me to pay for it I will be over the 6 months either way.

Please for your sake, make sure your talking to the company saftey director or the head honcho because a recruiter will tell you just about anything to get you to the school . I'm not 100% on this but that's how they get paid not that you graduate.

If it's the company saying just have them put it in writing and send it to you first. I'm not trying to talk you out of going to their training, just don't want to see you on here 3 months from now complaining on how Maverick treated you bad and fired you over a ticket. And they will becuase their insurance company would throw a fit for hiring you with a reckless driving ticket on your record.

Absoloutley a PR nightmare for them if you have a wreck and hurt someone in the future.

    Just my 2 cents!
