The longest I have ever stayed out is about 4 months. I pretty much stay out about a month then take 5-6 days off. If I stayed out longer my girlfriend wouldn't be my girlfriend anymore and then I wouldn't have anyone to keep the house clean and check the mail and mail out the bill checks.
Is it rare to stay out for so long?

I see not reason why a person cant live on the road, many do and as long as you break up the monotony once in a while, you should be fine. Like a hotel, water park, amusement park and so on... I wish you the best out there...be safe and enjoy life, that is the key.moderndrifter and albhb3 Thank this. -
SheepDog Thanks this. -
I have stayed out over one year without going home. Flew by kinda fast.
My wife died 5 years ago, the kids are grown and now I stop to see the kids and grandkids when I'm in town, but hometime? No...just keep on driving.
Sold my house 4 years ago, so nothing to take care of.
there are quite a few of us out here.
So far this year, my last hometime was February. None planned anytime soon, but will see kids for holidays.lv gn, Ratte, SheepDog and 1 other person Thank this. -
I was training one guy who use to be a otr guy. He was always talking to himself. We gave him the nick name " Dr who". People would always ask who he was talking to. it not natural to be unsocial. People need to mingle and make friends. Do things with other people.

On ther road most drivers create a character, like I am SheepDog but, not actually a SheepDog.. I like to goto truckstops,,love to talk on the CB and chat with some truckers. That to me is mingling and helps keep me somewhat social. I know what ya mean by Cabin Fever, and don't like that.. Humans are meant to mingle and socialize with one another but, for humans like me... I can live without more than with. Have you never thought about packing a backpack, leaving your wallet on the table (or in the truck) and just dissapearing?
moderndrifter and ricrey99 Thank this. -
Sheepdog is your alternate self I understand RAGE 18 was the name of my truck and yes I would talk to it, take care of it and listen to strange noises pull over and check it good I actually found some cheet that would have cost major bucks to fix but caught it in time to avoid that. The road is a lonely place but thats therapy for others...to me its a job and therapy but I balance that out with my apartment my dog and my wife she is very supportive in my job ventures...with that said Albert I do not believe you at all...you have never had a girlfriend???? I'm not the most handsome dude out there and I'm also a video game addict but dude come on are you really that messed up looking that you dont have a girlfriend? maybe your just a troll posting outrageous cheet I dont know but whatever it is do it to the fullest dude cuz you sure get a conversation going but if what u say is true I really feel bad for you.
