last 3 years employment

I recently applied w/ Fedex and got hired to do temp/seasonal work.
(orientation this morning)
They wanted to know everything I did in the last 10 yrs, I'm talking about my exact dates that i was employed and or receiving unempolyment.
But I didn't know/remember every exact date and just did a little guessing.
This I know for sure because two of my last employers called me to let me know they were checking on me

 

Be warned, some companies want you to go in to great detail as to why you were unemployed and to fax and/or notarize a form with non-relative references that can attest to your periods of unemployment. I've only ran across two or three company sites that do this, but they are out there.

 

Yea metaluzc is right about that I think its retarded but I guess they want to make sure you didnt go get trained how to make bombs or something...

 

They will find them.. Do you a neighbor who can vouch for you?. They just want to make sure you weren't freeloading

 

I believe Maverick and USA Truck are two of the companies that do this. You fill out the online application and then you have to print a form that confirms when you were unemployed, then you have to mail or fax them the form. You will need a friend or neighbor to sign, like celticwolf said.

 

Try FFE. I last worked in '08 (Prudhoe Bay oil fields), got laidoff through no fault of my own. I decided to go back to college when it was clear that they weren't going to rehire any time soon. Long story short, money ran out and I really gotta find work bad. And with this crap economy it's really difficult for a young guy to find work, much less a middle age dude such as myself. Anyway, I've wanted to give otr trucking a go about as far back as I can remember.

FFE is still like every other company out there. They really want that recent work history to verify your character and work ethic. Since I had no work history in the required time frame they asked for my college transcripts, 3 letters of reference from personal aquaintances, unemployment insurance records, and my MVR. Even then I still had to beg pretty hard as they still were leaning toward not hiring me anyway. It worked out though and I start at the FFE driver academy on the 31st.

Anyway, give them a call. The worst they can do is say no, right? Their number for recruiting is 1-800-569-9232. When you get the automated bs just say "Melvin Russell". He's my recruiter. Since he just went through the "no recent employment" dealio with me he can tell you what will up your odds of getting hired. Even then it's no guarantee but Melvin really went to bat for me. You might mention that you talked to a guy from Alaska (me) who told you he was in a similar sitchee-ayshun and the he (Melvin) got me lined out. You might have to call him a couple or three times but you will get through eventually. Good luck. Cheers.

 

There are companies popping up that specialize in these types of checks. VerificationInc up here in SD (verificationinc.com) does work for most corps and always go back 10 years. So when you are asked to provide jobs and home addresses for the last 10 years, they DO check every one. Don't lie!

 

FFE uses Acxiom and yeah, they were pretty thorough. They even came up with a known alias for me (although I've never used an alias in my life, even during my stoooopid years) and a period of residence in a city I've never even been to. I guess thorough does not necessarily mean accurate, eh?
