transporting personal racecars for pleasure use

    If it's personal, it's personal. As far as scales, you'll have to check the State's you will be in.

    For hire and not for hire means just that. For hire, you would be offering your vehicle to haul someone else's product. Not for hire would be like a carpenter that had a combination unit (F-250 pulling a small 7,000 lbs trailer) that exceed 10,001 lbs. Driver would need medical card, some State's require name and USDOT number. Truck needs fire extinguisher/roadside emergency devices. Make sure all the tires are good, all lights working. If combination like described ensure the breakaway emergency braking system is properly working as well.

    No sponsorship is the key . I have heard of rigs in this category being ruled commercial because they had sponsor decals on the trailer .
    I recall a post stating IRS plays a factor . Check with a tax adviser . Expenses shouldn't be deducted as business expenses .
