Couldn't agree more, this is exactly why Walmart has a waiting list and others don't.

Brings to mind my first stint with a common carrier, ( always been pvt. fleet )....had pay issues, couldn't get paid correctly. Setup a pup tent in the pay gals office, hand carried every bill for audit and instruction, still wrong, kicked up to the TM, still wrong, kicked it higher to the regional mgr., still wrong, tendered 2 weeks and bailed.

I think it's an unwritten co. policy. Lots of drivers probably leave bucks on the table and that adds to their bottom line. That's pure dishonesty !

Oh but let me scratch a car, mash a hose or spill a gallon and not say anything and I'm scum of the earth, rotton to the bone and could never be trusted again.

Double standards, you gotta love 'em.

It's not about treating people right. Every job out there has something to complain about. There's no such thing as the perfect job. Someone who does alot of job hopping isn't worth hiring.

And trucking companies that view good truck drivers as "a dime a dozen" aren't worth working for.

It is about treating employees right. There are far more management personal that are unqaulified than drivers and mechanics.

PS- Drivers are a dime a dozen. Good ones are 2 bits a piece.;-)

I would never say changing jobs is a bad thing, especially in cases where what was promised never came to pass. I once took a job that offered $15/hr and actually paid me $10/hr, then gave me a runaround when I questioned my paycheck. I went looking for another job real quick.

That being said, there are limits to how often one can change jobs without gaining something of a reputation. Quite simply, as our OP stated, do some research. You won't have to leave a bad job if you never accept it in the first place. Talk to drivers, weigh out your options, and make an informed decision.

That statement has made me laugh more than George Carlin. Think about how ironic it is. You're here for your family but will quit and be without a paycheck at the slightest hint of "disrespect" or something you consider to be unfair thus leaving your family without a paycheck. Makes perfect sense when you think about it right?

Last year I had some buffoon quit on me because he had to work on his daughters birthday giving me the same line of "family comes first". Well, in my not so humble opinion, if your family comes first you suck it up and keep earning a living for them, not quit over a birthday party.

Maybe I'm cut from different cloth because I don't complain, I just make the goal.

And I won't waste time with a job hopper either, I'm not wasting several weeks of my life training him for him to quit 3 months later over a perceived better deal. Just doesn't make financial sense because you pay them to train but they aren't making you any money in return.

This "buffoon" was a complete dumb###.

No... I believe we are cut from the same cloth, you and I.

But would you ask me to stay at work, if my 4 year old daughter was missing ? Just reported by my wife, who called me in a total melt down?

Local and county law enforcement had already been searching for 3 hours.

THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME !!! I quit THAT job the next day.

Are you cut from the same cloth as this "business man"? If so, I want nothing to do with you....or your business.

One former "boss" chartered me a plane. When my wife was attacked by another employee of the same company. Requiring open heart surgery, to repair the knife wounds in her chest. I kept that job until they closed the doors.

But I realize....business is in the business of making money. To hell with what the employee wants or needs.

Don't ever assume you know the ethics or morals of a man applying for a job. I've missed birthdays, Christmas, Anniversaries, and family funerals. While insuring MY family was taken care of.

I have stayed out on the road away from my family for as long as 6 months at a time. My devotion to the welfare of my family is first and foremost.

And POS companies who are dishonest, and trap a driver into a job that slowly bleeds his savings/checking dry. DESERVE every POS driver they get.

Maybe this "buffoon" has different goals than you do, like actually spending time with his family.

Besides, he probably had another job within a week.

I agree with what you are saying BUT if a company does not pay you what they stated they would pay then only an dumb a+s+s would stay
