This is three companys that are all together. My husband and I worked for the Secured Division(SLT). It was good for the first year. Except for home time. This company doesn't believe in home time. We stay out 2 months at a time, but after that we want to go home. They will not get you there until they are ready to. We have been out 4 months at a time, unwilling. It has been three months now and we cannot get home. We will be leaving the company this time. When you call to get set up with them they will tell you what ever you want to here to get you here. You find out the truth in orientation. Then you know you are screwed. The managment talks out both sides of their mouth. The drivers will not say anything bad, if managment would find out, they will starve them. They do a poor job up keeping equipment. If something goes wrong with equipment, they blame the driver. One driver I know here cannot leave until some points come off her CSA 2010 because of failing inspections. If something is wrong with your truck, they want the company shop to do repair. So if you are not around company shop, you will have to drive it like that or refuse loads. Until they listen to you. (Oh, there went your pay not avaliable for minimum.) This is just not a driver oriented company. You are a truck and you should just shut up and drive. They just have no respect for their drivers at all. We are constantly fighting for our pay also. Some times we have to wait till Monday for direct deposit to go through, because they need to make deposits. Cannot let our company funds get to low. Payroll actually tolded us one time they have the ability to hold as many trips back as they want to. In other words you never know what your pay will be or when they will pay you for the miles you have driven. The minimum pay, you will fight for, they have numorous ways to keep you from getting it. If you want to haul this frieght, I would encourge you to look at other companies that do the same. I hope this helps in this dog eat dog world we live in. Good luck on your decision, and God be with you on your travels.

And they are a cut rate company. They SLT have screwed up a good part of trucking. Stay away from this compaany. They are getting big money for DOD loads and the drivers don't even know what they are hauling.

Goodness. We worked for them for years and had a perfect safety and on-time record. But they screwed us everytime we turned around -- and LIED about EVERYTHING. Because Military freight has a lot of waiting around, we had a weekly guarantee, but we never knew what we'd get paid. One week we were left in a truckstop in Texas for four days and when we got our check, no miniumum. The reason? There was a holiday in the week. What holiday, we asked? "Good Friday". Does it mean anything that Good Friday is not a bank or government holiday? "No because we can do whatever we want." I mean, every week has a holiday in it, really... Even if it's just St. Swithen's Day... Also it seemed like every week they were changing the pay rules so we made less and less and less... and the operations manager is a real prima donna who really hates drivers.

Well, if its really been since 2013 since a review was written, it is time for an update. We signed on with SLT in May... Just a couple of months ago I know, but we have been doing this off and on for 20+ years and can spot a bad deal quickly. With these guys, under new management, we kept waiting for the other shoe to drop... And it hasn't yet... Not for us, nor for the other drivers we have spoken with who have over a year under their belts.

We get a small bonus pay for the miles we run which balances out any cash advances we might need from time to time. But the real deal is getting paid by the day... Every day that we are available and not on scheduled hometime. Not a problem one with payroll or with getting by to check our mail or with taking hometime at someplace other than our home base on file.

They do not want their drivers driving fatigued and they want us to have plenty of time to get our placards right and do our enroute inspections and all that. We have enough time off every week to catch up on everything so that we are not running exhausted and really dont feel the need to go home when we can visit our kids and grandkids and friends and get paid while doing it!

We heard the company really had a bad reputation and was floundering when the new CEO took a look at it and came up with a new way of doing things, AFTER TALKING TO DRIVERS. He could not believe we were existing on paychecks that fluctuated because we were being paid by the mile (and penalized for those things that slowed us down that we have no control over).

So, anyway, we are lovin it. Owner Operators make more of course but we do pretty good for company drivers and it only gets better with more credentials and longevity.

It is nothing to sneeze at when it comes to doing hazmat loads correctly and professionally. The orientation (all expenses paid) was the most intense and demanding we have been through and we came out of it feeling like we really are part of an elite group of drivers.

I guess I have to mention that we get a sign on bonus if we submit names of teams who end up hiring on and i guess they want us to have a chance to talk about how its changed so, we don't get bonuses if drivers call in direct or online. Doesnt really matter... Just hoping this review stays true for a long time cuz we are having a good time and back in the black again and wish that for other drivers. It is primarily a team operation but not exclusively so... Just something you might want to consider.

Best of luck to all y'all and keep 'er between the ditches! LoL

    Team Sly
