I did attend orientation on the 26th. Everything I was told by the recruiter was indeed true. I did have a choice and am headed for the DG account. I do have to go with a trainer for 50 hrs. The experience with US Xpress has been really good so far. Orientation had the usual cast of interesting folks, met some real good people. I have made contact with my trainer and will be heading out hopefully early this week.

I'm west coast of Fl. so I'm not sure they would run me out of Savannah, I figured I might have a shot at the DC out by Marianna, I think they run this side of the state but I'm not sure. What is the name of the person that runs the dedicated stuff?? I'll call and ask her!! I was going to do a team thing with a friend from this area but he's fresh out of school and they aren't hiring trainie's from this area apparently.

hey guys, im back to trucking after some time off from PAM, and I have decided to take on USX, being that I am only 1.5 hrs from chatanooga, but had a couple of questions about the company. They said I qualify as an experienced driver, so when I get to orientation and complete it, will i get a choice of tractor, or will they give me an old piece of junk, and will complaining get me the pete or prostar that I want. Also who do i need to speak with about a dedicated account, the recruiter told me that i was regional, which ment that I ran anything east of the mississippi, but i would like to be home more often, or at least by the house more often. Any advice on getting a good truck and hometime dedicated account would be great thanks.

You will not have a choice of Truck. You will get what they have at the time. I would think nothing that you would get would be more then 3 years old either. More then likely you will get a truck that is less then 2.

As for dedicated, all you have to do is call the folks that take care of that, and they can tell you what is out there. Chattanooga is where HQ is, you would be out of Tunnel Hill, GA. That is like 25 miles south of Chattanooga.

So I guess I'm looking...if I ask the right person can I ask for a specific truck if I'm willing to track one down...ie abandonment ect. But tunnel hill is that not a big yard for them...I figured they may have a couple of options right

Also arent most of the trucks equipped with sat radio, so I will not have to purchase one.

I have seen 150 people go thru orientation in Tunnel Hill. There is a very large turn over rate of drivers with USX. There is no way that they have the trucks or the trainers to support such a large number of people like that.

You can try to do what you want to, but I am not sure that they will give you what they want to, or what they have. Tunnel Hill is a large terminal. It took them 2 days just to get me in a truck when I was there. I had a 2012 Pete, and to be honest, the truck was not very user (driver) friendly with where all the controls were located.

The person in the equipment office, the guy that assigns the trucks, did not seem very friendly at all. I am not sure I would try and push his buttons. Maybe things have changed with the re-org that USX just did, so I am not sure.

As for Sat Radio, the Petes and the Freightliners have sat radio, but you have to pay for the subscription for it.
