I want to add that it is a good idea to unplug it as well as the male plug gets real hot. As for the coleman cooler I had good luck with it I did have to change the fans a few times, I gave up when the power cord melted and got the Igloo in wildwood FL for 105 dollars and it cools a lot better than the coleman did when it was new and it has more room.

I just recently had a refridgerator installed in my truck. Before that I lived out of an ice chest. Now when I am able to get to a Wal Mart I can buy meat. Be it pork steaks, beef, seafood. My converter allows me to run an electric skilet, a crock pot, coffee maker. I also have a gas grill which I love, 90 bucks at wal-mart. The possiblities are endless.
I do not cook everynite. However it is such a change and enjoyment for me to be able to cook.

REAL cooking is a treat - and much better for you than the 'grab and go' stuff... Enjoy!!

okay so my power inverter is a "cobra 450 dc to ac 400watt continuous/800watt peak" it plugs into a car light then converts that to two regular outlets

If I plug my regular auto drip coffee pot into it, the power goes on then off then on then off in about one second increments... you'd think that 400 watts continuous would be enough

To those of you who have coffee pots and crock pots running and all that; What kind of power inverters are you using?

like I said my inverter is one that just plugs into a 12volt lighter plug

You do not have enough wats to run the coffee pot. Most heating element items require 1000 wats or more to use.

Coffee pots typically run in the 800 watts range. Mine draws a whopping 1050 watts.

If your coffee maker does tell you wattage, multiply the amps times the voltage..

I have two inverters, one is a 1500 watt for my toaster, microwave and coffee maker, the second is a 750 watt for my fridge and everything else.

Ohh yeah 400 watts is too much for a 12v plug. Connect it properly to the batteries..
