Worst grade I ever pulled was in my 4x4 pick-up. It was Old Fancy Gap going north. The road is closed now, but it is a 5 mile 19% grade.... as for in a big rig, Donner Pass was about the steepest along with the hill between WV/VA over by Winchester (can't remember the road)

I dunno how steep the climb out of that field was but it was enough to throw my engine computer into a panic when all the oil went to the back of the pan. Least I think that's what happened.

Up- pa153 from pa255 to i80 at 78k. I thinks it around 9% Bad part was it was my third day with my trainer. I made it 3/4 of the way n missed a gear. Quite the learning exp.

Down- us 40 in pa. About 10 miles east of i68 x14 in md. I forget the town name but it was round 11% and had 2 mandatory stops and it was 10mph the whole 2-3 miles.

Unknown %- somewhere in pa. Not long but steeeeepp.

I haven't read the entire thread so I am not sure if someone may have already posted this one: IMG_0074-1 26% grade.jpg

Any one care to guess where it is? Eighteen wheelers aren't allowed on it, but I did take a 35 ft motor home over it in 1985.

I think the steepest grade I've been on was in casper, wy. Grossing 135K had to stop at a stop light where it really got steep. Went from Lo to first and stayed there til the top.
This year at 160K macdonald pass would have been the steepest. 13mph up 15mph down.

I'm gonna guess somewhere near Phoenix? There is a 2 lane road heading out of town towards Lake Roosevelt that is close to that. The other option to get to the destination is a 1.5 lane gravel road!!!

Well being an old logger and off roader steep grades are part of life. Average spur road steep around 17%-23%. Now right away/pipeline steep which is go straight no matter what.......Mty around 45% that's what the surveyor said it was and loaded 30-35%. These are only 1/4 mile grades not any longer. Some engines puke oil out unless you shut them off which ain't gonna happen. Now you may think this guy is full of Sht and that's your option. But I got nothing to prove since I'm to old to give a rats ### anymore. Anyone that knows where Cathedral Heights around Meeker and Rangely,Co knows. Cathedral Heights was 62% grade on the right away and not even the pickups were allowed to go down it. Not that anyone would be crazy enough. Oh wait a minute I work with southerns never mind.;-)

Not sure what the % of the grades were but took a 48,000lb coil from indiana out to Fallon Nevada in a 1994 Freightliner with a 3176 350 cat with a 9speed with NO JAKE. The 215 there at SLC at midnight loaded like that with no jake and first time out that way. Little bit nervous. Also on same trip out west ran the big horn mountains before coming home there in northern wyoming.
