1st Mexican truck to enter US interior within days
The first Mexican carrier is set to roll into the U.S. interior within days, but the Teamsters union and two California congressmen haven't given up on stopping the cross-border trucking program that had been stalled for years by safety concerns and political wrangling.
U.S. Reps. Duncan Hunter and Bob Filner joined Teamsters President James Hoffa at the border on Wednesday to take a bipartisan stand against the pilot project that will allow approved Mexican trucks to come deep into the United States. The first Mexican truck will enter Texas on Friday

everyone should be worried owners and drivers its our jobs and our money and Obama let this happen. Mexican trucks will take loads all over US leaving out US Companies and they will pick up loads that will go back to Mexico screwing US Companies, drivers and owners again!!!! Not only this, they will eventually be hauling loads within US.

I don't think they're taking our jobs. We've been going to Mexico for a while now.
I don't think they should be let in if they can't pass the same inspections we have to pass.
I can remember sitting at the Mexican border a few times back in the early 90's waiting for my trailer to come back. Some of them came back with much older tires. Some of their trucks didn't look like they should have been let out of the yard, never mind going down the road.
I can also remember when it was a DOT regulation you had to be able to speak and understand English. I've seen drivers now days that can't speak a word of it. Makes it hard to communicate effectively and effects job performance.
Can't say I agree with opening border for safety concerns. Maybe they plan on printing Mexican version of the FMCSR with taxpayer money. If not, who's going to teach them? The guy with the Mex-Tex t-shirt who flies the Mexican Flag on US soil? -
You have every right to be mad, as am I. But we all knew this day would eventually get here. And acting all big and bad, threatening to vandalize or destroy equipment is NOT going to help.djtrype and MexicoTrucker Thank this.

I think somebodies a little but hurt about someone coming to try and take their job.
You may need to step up your game and bring on the competition - competition promotes a healthy economy and brings forth good change. If it was constantly the same thing everyday life would get boring - this makes it exciting!MexicoTrucker Thanks this. -
Could this be the start of Mexicans taking our trucking jobs? Not to mention another way for the Cartels to smuggle drugs and Illegals.

If I see you doing that expect to have me call the cops on you. No matter how pissed you are you do not damage a mans equipment.
I understand how and why you are angry but damage to another truckers truck is wrong. Politics are politics. I'm sure canadians feel the same about us taking their loads in and out of canada. But they don't slash our tires.MexicoTrucker, djtrype and shriner75 Thank this. -
Yeah, a handful of Mexican trucks are going to take all of jobs! Right!
What about the 37,000 Canadians that are allowed into this country with little oversight?
What about the 1000+ Mexican carriers who were grandfathered in back in 1982 and have had full access since the 60's? How many jobs have they taken?
I guess there are still people falling for the alarmist rhetoric of the opponents
Grow up people! Felony vandalism ain't the answer -
Just do what I am going to do, learn to speak Spanish!. Who knows, someday even your dispatch office might be in Mexico times are a changing. Always remember, your government has only your best interest at heart!. Hell, I read most of Mexico is now vacant as most of the people have moved up here. I may just move down there after I fill out their immigration forms and get the Mexican government's permission to do so. You NEVER want to sneak into Mexico illegally! They don't just deport you down there they put you in prison!.

Canada has an economy and nice trucks like the US. Unlike Mexico that is poor and has wore out equipment.
Canada scratches our back and we scratch their back.
We scratch Mexico's back and you all go take a siesta.
1000+
Due to the mismatch of economies, Mexico is able and willing to haul the same freight for pennies on the dollar. What do you think that is going to do to freight rates and the owner operator just now trying to get by?
Don't get upset. This is not a racial thing. It's a matter of mismatched economies coinciding. This benefits Mexico and doesn't do a thing for the US worker. There will be companies and brokers taking advantage of the situation just like they do now.
Look at all the US companies that moved to Mexico for the cheap labor. That didn't cost US workers jobs??
Unless there is a fair trade off which it's not, you all need to stay on your side of the fence. I'll drink a beer with you, but don't touch my paycheck so you can live better.
I'm kind of tired of all the migrant workers working under the table and our tax dollars paying for your food and medical care. Yet if we ain't paying $400 a month for health insurance a doctor won't touch us.
All the other countries in the world can figure out how to legally migrate to this country. Yet Mexico thinks it's okay to sneak across the border and take advantage of our gov't handouts.
Atleast they can learn English and stop forcing the need for Spanish in this country. We have been speaking English here for 300 years.
You don't see any press 3 for German or press 4 for Russian do you??
Now do you see why some get upset?djtrype, American-Trucker, reptij and 3 others Thank this. -
From the article "Perez declined to reveal how much his drivers earn"
Canadian trucks drive for same rates as we do but when Mexican companies pay 40$ a day to their drivers, how do you think its going to effect us? And by us I mean (drivers, owners, brokers, mega companies like Swift, England ect, same with forwarding companies that are sitting along the border) Mexico says that companies will save money, guess who is going to benefit from it, do you think employees will get a bigger salary?Last edited: Oct 20, 2011
