As far as education they are going to be the same. Your real training is going to be after you are hired and go out with your trainer. Chances are you will learn more on day one with your trainer then the three weeks of schooling.
The advantages of company schooling would be that you already have a job, you just have to pass your license exams. Usually a one year contract and you don't have to pay interest on the loan unlike a public school.
Advantages of public schooling is that you will be at home while you are going to school. There isn't a contract but if you finance then there technically will be a contract and it will be for longer than a year most likely. You will also be paying interest on that loan.
That's pretty much it. There really isn't much to it. Really the only reason to choose public schooling is if you want to be home during your time at school. Otherwise, personally I would choose the company training.
DrtyDiesel Thanks this. -
Company Paid Training
-Sign a contract of one or two years if not more
-After you sign the contract you have the risk of them not giving you many loads so they can pay you next to nothing and you wouldnt be able to go anywhere because of being under a contract*
-if you were to leave before a year the next company that you would try to go to may not see the training as acceptable training without having a year's experience behind it.
School
-pay for it, have a company reimburse you**
-better training (more training on the DOT and State Aspect of it)***
-You can pick and choose companies based on the recruiters^^ that might come to the school
-you won't be under a contract with any company
Footnote-_-
*not all Companies that offer "Company School" training will give you lower miles, there are some but few companies that might treat you like everyone else
**not all companies will do this, some that do may only reimburse you for a certain amount even if it doesn't cover the full cost of the school
***some school's actually care about getting you into a job and helping you out, other's just want your money and nothing else
^^just don't believe everything they tell you
If anyone else can offer advice or if I've stated something false please let me know
*edit*- you beat me to it chompi lolchompi Thanks this. -
Thanks for the input guys. I think I'm going to go to the school. I really don't want to he under contract with anyone and that would be another 3 weeks or so I would not be home. So I guess when I get closer to being ready to go to school I will call maverick's recruiter along with a few others and see what they can tell me. Any questions I should ask when talking to them?

Look in the thread about what to ask a recruiter. It's very helpful.
