heres another perspective from a farmers point of view.

Lets take Deere (even though i dont like any of their products its the easiest example) obviously tractors make up the biggest chunk of their market share so since not very many people want to buy a self propelled forage harvestor does that mean they arent going to make them? No.

Better exhample, case IH, still making the 600 blower, but OMG TAZZ think of all of the tooling it costs to produce a design from 30 years ago that has NEVER CHANGED.

    Just a couple points thanks.

The difference between men and boys is the price of their toys! anon.

Some guys like to spend time and money polishing a company truck (can set you apart from the crowd), as long as you know its just an image thing, who cares! It's about Pride!

Some guys spend all day driving in a dirty truck. Who cares! It's about making Money!

I don't begrudge someone else for having a taste for largecars. If you like them, more power to ya. I won't make fun of you.

But, I like my Cornbinder. If that makes me a steering wheel holder, then I guess, if the shoe fits.

I woulda figured steering wheel holder status would be reserved for those who have no idea how to set tandems, change a light or operate a parking spot. But, if all it takes to fall into the category is to like a ProStar, go on ahead and print my T-Shirt up. I wear a medium and turquoise is my favorite color.

Some guys spend time brushing their teeth in the morning, and spend time and money having a shower daily and getting a hair cut monthly. As long as you know it's just an image thing, who cares, It's about pride!.

Some guys spend all their time driving dirty and smelly in a truck, who cares, it's about making money. :biggrin_25522:

While I suspect that the Walmarts of the world couldn't care less what the rig looked like that delivered their load, alot of companies do. I've been told by a few customers that they hired me because someone with enough pride in their equipment to keep it as clean and shiney as I do, will also take pride in the work they do. I've said it before and I'll say it again, if you were broke down in an unfamiliar town and there were two shops in town to choose from to get your rig fixed, both were available and both charged the same rate but one had greasy parts and junk lining the walls of the shop, little piles of floor dry here and there and tools piled on the bench and you could barely get the truck in there for all the junk, and the other was neat and tidy with everything in it's place, floor clean and tools nicely organized, where would you take your truck to be fixed?.

    to an extent.

Or they are just lazy and your truck will be there 3 times to long.

The nice clean shop could be busy and have pride in their shop.

Just look at the number of trucks in the shop.

    Back to long hoods.

Kenworth still makes the T800W and T800H dont they? I think they sell a lot more W900Ls than those two trucks and the differences a W900L has from say a T660 are nearly the same as the T800W and T800H have from the T660.

    just an observation.
