Ditto what Bear said... Pay special attention to people trying to pass you..they may be traveling faster than what is safe and go into skid and go right underneath you... Take it easy and don't rush anything... Know what your comfort zone is and stick to it...if you feel its unsafe to drive in the conditions then pull it off at next safe haven.. even if that means your load is late...just let dispatch know and go from there...rather be late than have an accident

    Ryeman Thanks this.

Thinks for the tips Bear and Whitey, I really appreciate it. As far as today goes, got a load out of Eden this morning going to Mechanicville, NY. Been here couple of times before so no biggie. Pretty smooth day till I decided to stop. My original plan was to stop at the TA at exit 7 in NJ. Got there around 5 and thought for sure there would be parking left, boy was I wrong. That place was a clusterf***. No parking and barely room to get out. Finally got out and tried the Pilot, again no parking. I drive a couple exits up to I believe exit 12 or 13 to a Pilot, and again, no parking and even more of a clusterf***. After that looked at my T/S book and didnt see much on 287 so just decided to find somewhere while truckin down the road. While goin down 287 I see a Rest area just for trucks and thought for sure it be full but would give it a shot anyway, and behold there were 5 nice big spots left. Sitting here till 5am then off to the Receiver. Hope everyones doing good!

Most times you're better off staying away from the truckstops. Rest areas are more quiet also.

I agree - I much rather a rest area then a t/s. You can usually get out and sit outside or walk around and not worry about being run over.

If I plan to grill that evening I always stay at a rest area. Not to mention you dont have to back in a spot or worry you wont get out in the morning. (well most times anyway)

Wats up everybody. Got to mechanicville early and got unloaded. Hit ready for dispatch and was told I was first on the list. Around 3 pm got a load picking up at Patterson's Warehouse going to Penn Pallet in Woodland, PA. Delivered that around 2pm today. From there got a load picking up in McCoole, Maryland at Newpage going to Wisconsin Rapids. Currently backed in at Newpage and getting loaded. Apparently there bout to run out of paper from what another Millis driver just told me, so hopefully they have enough to finish my load. Hope everyone's doing good

Gotta love when that happens - it happens all the time in Niagara Falls!
