    Hello,

I am new to the forum, and also to the world of owning my own truck. My previous experience has been as a company driver. I am within a few days of closing on a 1998 kenworth w900L, and am looking for a good company to lease on with. I am looking for a company that will allow me to take my wife an 4 month old daughter with me in the truck. I was about to lease on with CRST Malone until they informed me I couldn't take my daughter. Are there any companies out there with compensation similar to CRST that will allow me to drive a truck that old and allow me to take my family with me?? Please don't respond with opinions about taking a baby. We have already seen tons of views on that subject and have made a decision. We are just looking for a good company. Thanks for any thoughts. They are much appreciated!

There are several factors why you are going to find it hard to go down this road.

First, is the insurance. Rider policies are tough, getting a rider policy that allows teens is harder and anything under pre-teen is almost impossible. You get in an accident and you can't sue your company but your wife and baby can.

Next is shipper and rcv'r policies. There are plenty of places that will not allow anyone under 18 on the property. And most of the time you learn that when you arrive. Had my wife with me on a run into a rail yard and they only allowed the driver. Even on team loads. 1 person only.

And don't forget the is sleep issues. Drivers need their rest and I had many sleepless nights with sick kids IN A HOME with wife taking care of the baby. What are you going to do in the truck when the baby is keeping you up?

You can go on and on with the list if items that makes this a bad situation for a carrier.

You cannot go to work with a company and sign a waver for your child in case of injury. You cannot sign away your child's rights, they can sue when they come age.

To be legal the child must ride in a safety seat. If you put a baby in a car seat 12 hours a day, day after day, you need to be turned into child protective services.

Sorry there is no legitimate carrier that will touch you.

i was one of the lucky kids to actually grow up in a truck , before all the rules and regulations got in the way . now im a dad with a 13m old , and i would never even consider him in the truck or my wife , not becuase of the rules and regulations , but , there are to many dumb people out there , and criminals .

i would try to re think the idea of taking family with you .

I have to agree with everyone else, first u will not find a place to insure you let alone a company to lease u and allow a child.

That being said, have u thought about getting in with a company where u can be home each night or on weekends???

Or better yet, since u don't have the truck yet, just pass on it and find a company or maybe even just get out of driving all together.

Is there a reason you are trying to find "the company" AFTER getting ready to pick up the truck.

I was wondering the same thing???

Kinda sounds like a company driver had a child and his company told him he could not take the baby with him, so he decided to get his own truck and do it on his own.....only to find out that his old company told him NO for a reason, and now he will have a truck and NO JOB while also having a new born child!!!!

This is just an epic FAIL in the making. Sure hope he comes to his senses before loosing everything and maybe his wife/kid too!

Mabe look for a company that will allow you to work 12 to 14 a day and be home at night.were looking for 25 drivers in nd nexed week you can take your wife with you but leave her in the room. We pay 60 bucks strait time 6 days a week and fuel and find you a place to stay.323-715-0077 need kenworth t800 or equel....gravel and tankers pass it on will be needing another 25 in two weeks.
