Con-way Freight, a less-than-truckload (LTL) carrier and subsidiary of Con-way Inc., announced today that Paul Phillips, a driver sales representative from the company’s Fresno, Calif., service center, won the Grand Champion title at the 74th National Truck Driving Championships.

Phillips is the third consecutive driver from Con-way Freight to win the national championship at the trucking industry’s premier safety and skills competition, and the fourth in six years.

Phillips succeeds 2010 Grand Champion Carl Krites, a Con-way Freight driver from Sidney, Ohio. Dale Duncan, a Con-way Freight driver from San Diego won Grand Champion honors in 2006 and 2009.

Hi, just got a call from Conway and Prime. Both companies seem good and confused on which one to go to. Can anyone give some insight on both. I've done my research and see that both are large companies and that they are stable. Hope to hear from anyone soon. To add to this I'm a newbie right out of school but have a clean record and just applied for my hazmat. Thanks for any response.

We went with Conway and are glad we did...the drivers we have talked to so far all seem to be very happy and they have great equipment. We are newbies straight out of school and were in your shoes 2 weeks ago...everyone at Conway seems very friendly and helpfull...one of the guys with us in boot camp has a friend on the road right now with a finisher and is headed back to Joplin after doing his 7500 miles...he is very satisfied with the company also.

Thanks Brunsco so much for answering my question. I just spoke with Ketura (I hope I spelled her name right, really nicer person) at Conway and she maybe able to get me in class by the 14th of Nov. Prime sounded really good also but I felt that Conway had more to offer also that there drivers won 3 championships in driving which says a lot. So hope everything is going well for you and maybe see you one day on the road or at Joplin. Thanks again and be safe.:Trailer:

Conway over Prime ANY DAY!!! Prime will just push you to do lease purchase deal that is only a good deal for them!! Conway is better in my humble opinion, if I was looking I would call conway first for sure, almost did until my buddy couldn't make up his mind on teaming, I spoke with a Dana and she was very helpful too.
    Good luck with them!!

Good stuff man.. Thanks.. I was lucky enough to be trained at CCX then, Con-way Freight now, by 2001 national champion Dale K. who is now at Con-way Freight's Erie, Pa terminal. The amount of time these guys put into this competition is unreal. Props to all of them especially my co-workers at Freight..
