Is that hand calculated when you fill up, your rolling average? Or CAT ID numbers? What do you pull? If I got fuel mileage like that from mine I'd hesitate to make any kind of change but ordinarily, yes, upping the horsepower/torque will improve fuel mileage as long as you drive it right.
-
fuel mileage is calculated with the qualcom unit shows the performance I am getting with truck.. if I fill up I can get 2100 miles and there is still fuel left when I fill again. 150 gal tanks , I am leased onto schneider so the freight is heavy and light. heaviest load was 45900 and lightest was 5900.. I am pretty happy with the performance even with that 45900 I was able to pull decent size grades in the Northeast doing 60-55 up the hills so the motor can pull... I was just curious what the torque rating was.. didn't get a spec sheet..

I would say its a 1850 torque motor.
And as far as your fuel mileage, if your truly getting 7.1 lets not try and get to greedy. With that kinda mpg I dont thing I would take a chance and muck it up.SHC Thanks this. -
yeah your probably right.. so far everybody that I have told that I am getting that kind of fuel mpg thinks I am lying then I show them what the computer says and that's when you get wow and that's from cat motor.. just will leave it alone.. I thought it might be 1850 my series 60 was 1600 and this one out pulls that with no problem at all... love my cat

I ran with SNI and my actual MPG was 1mpg LESS than the qualcomm. You are getting 6.1, not 7.1
The computer only calculates when you are running, it does not factor in idle time and other factors. Actually try calculating your mileage between fill-ups and you will see.
Also, if you are tired of the overspeed beeping at you, you will have to get the system turned off. -
Also the qualcomm only tracks you when you cross "region lines" that are setup in the Qualcomm/SNI computer systems. I ran into this when I was very shortly leased to them. It really hurt me with my IFTA since I was running a lot of local stuff and never crossing the lines. But in realy life I was running 100-300 more miles a day than what their computers said.SHC Thanks this.

if stark21 is gettin 6.1 or even 7.1 mpg out of a 475 c15 id love to know why i cant get out of the 5s with a c15 550. and lets not even talk about when the wind really gets to blowing. into the 4s when that happens.
-
I have a 06 W9 I am getting a true 6-6.5 mpgs. It is also a 05 mxs acert 18spd but with 3.55s. If I had 3.25 rears I think I would get better. Mine has been improved though with a PDI tune and a manifold. If I dorve with fuel on my mind I think I could get into the 7s pretty easy.
SHC Thanks this. -
dl550cat we seem to have the same truck...mine was built in 1 of 06. its got an 05 mxs 550. the wife keeps track of the mpg and its averaging 5.2 right now. like i said when the wind picks up...forget it....its gotten down to 4.3 on the cat computer in the truck. i was truly hoping, when i traded for the truck, that it would get alot better than what its doin.
