Just to back up here a little bit (page # 2) about turning in your state dl to get a Tx permit and CDL then Stevens requires you to change it to your home state within 90 days?
That won't work in Massachusetts. In Massachusetts you have to have a CDL for two years before you can transfer it or take the road test again.

Thanks Maxwelltie.

My question concerning changing license IS: If I already have cdl A do I have to turn it in in TX and get a TX cdl just to revert it back to NC when I get home????????? Thanks
-
Probably not, Bosn. You already have the license you need to drive a truck.

Thanks brother, I really appreciate it.!

The license confusion comes from the requirements for people coming to Stevens to obtain their CDL. Federal law requires the person to be licensed in the state they test in. For Stevens, that's Texas.
Once you have obtained your license, you then transfer it back to your home state.
For those that come to Stevens WITH a valid CDL, they do nothing.Willies Trucking, DenaliDad and TLeaHeart Thank this. -
