The way it's set up I'd unload and reload in Houston one day then unload and reload in New Orleans the next day. More than likely on the nights I was headed to New Orleans I'd just stop at home to shower and eat then go on and finish my trip that night because we all know what New Orleans can be like.
$200 a day. Good or bad?

4 turns would be good,
5 turns is about 3500 miles in 5 days, loading plus unloading ?????
I don't know........... -
Roger.
Oh, FFS! There, happy TTR? -
Its actual adding up to around 2500 miles a week. Lets say Im loaded for Houston on a Friday. I'll go home with that load for the weekend. Monday I'll unload and reload in Houston Then go home. Tuesday I'll unload and reload in New Orleans and go home Wed. I'll unload and reload in Houston and home. Thurs. I'll do New Orleans then home. Friday I'll unload and reload in Houston then home for the weekend. I'd feel safe in saying its about 2700 miles a week. Thats off the top of my head.

Is this 1099 work or are you an actual employee?

For me, can't put a price on being home. Sounds like the living in the "middle" thing would be a big plus. You may regret not taking it due to that.
gravelhauler and SHC Thank this. -
200 hundred a day, minus taxes, any tolls where you are? one flat tire or ticket must hurt if its your own truck...Everything is so tight these days its very hard for everyone...
I am trying to get a company to haul stone from NJ to NY and its been nothing but head aches...Different weight laws in NJ then in NY...Tolls, traffic, ect...I believe my boss offers something like 12-24 per ton..dont really know, but these tri axle dump trucks seem like they cant get it done, they bring in 22-25 ton per truck -
No 1099. Id be an actual enployee. -
No tolls and if somebody wanted to give me $200 bucks a day to run my own truck they would've gotten hung up on and this thread wouldn't exist.SHC and hellomcflywakeup Thank this. -
I'm always against such "pay plans". You have little/no recourse if you end up losing an ENTIRE day in New Orleans in wait time unloading and loading, nearly every trip. One drop may turn into two, New Orleans may turn into "include a Slidell pickup ... it's just a little bit further". I've found that driver employers who want to pay this way are to be carefully watched and many are not completely trustworthy in the long term. Wyy would they not offer a set mileage rate, a set pu/stop rate after 2 pu/stop's, detention pay after 2 hours?
I don't like to speak ill of someone I have no knowledge of, but I can only speak in generality after hearing too may drivers in similar situations end up sorry they ever took the job. But if you really trust the person involved then do what you need to do. Make sure they have an after hours road repair plan and you can be assured of getting phone and financial support from your boss in the event of a breakdown. You may lose a full day or more sitting in Lake Charles getting a major repair done, will they compensate you?
