Cummins turbo oil leak

    I just had an in-frame done on a cummins big cam 350. Now I have oil leaking from the flange between the turbo and the exhaust pipe. I plugged the oil line feeding the turbo and ran the engine just long enough to see if oil would still come out and sure enough, it did. What all could I be up against.

    Not sure what the problem is. Thought maybe I could get a little insight from someone else because I'm no diesel mechanic.

    If its a great deal of oil and it doesn't quit you probably have a problem.

    Is the motor broke in yet? How many miles since O'haul?

    Yes, it's a pretty good stream of oil. I've only ran it a short way down the road since the o'haul so it's far from broken in yet.

    I'd get ahold of the place that built it cause something don't seem right! If you do run it some to break it in keep a real close eye on how much oil its using. Hate to see you run it dry and burn it up!

    Shouldn't leak any at all from turbo with fresh over haul wouldn't run at all I'd take back to shop an make them look at sounds like rings lined in line an not off set to look like an x if keep running engine will run away from

    You can separate the exhaust manifold from the cylinder heads to isolate which hole is passing oil. Find the wet exhaust port.
