So you were rude to them on the phone when inquiring about the status of your application? How did you think that would turn out? A guy that proves to be difficult in the easiest part of the process is usually not the guy that ends up getting hired.
Millis:"We're taking better applications"...add them to the list of bottom feeder.

I'm split on whether to call Millis a "Bottom Feeder".
They are better than some of the others, that's for sure.
I met with Mike Millis about a year ago and looked at their operation.
Since then, I have had 3 friends come/go through Millis.
I wasn't impressed and didn't care for some of the things that Millis did and said to it's drivers, (don't ask as I won't post it)
but there are indeed people there that are happy and that's all that matters.
To call them a "Bottom Feeder" seems a bit of a stretch, although they will indeed take someone
with 2 DUIs (in their past) without any hesitation.... That's not very common in the rest of the industry...
To each his own..right?
PS. I also met with ## and D* in recruiting. While I am not sure about the truth that happened with
the OP, I could see that as a potential after meeting those two women...diesel_weasel Thanks this. -
Anyone ever lose an immediate family member while on the road? How about two? I have. And even with a will and worst case scenario planned for it causes problems, dozens of irons in the fire that can't simply be taken care of on your "hometime"
My point is there are other reasons for leaving the industry other than dissatisfaction with your job, boss, coworkers, treatment at work, etc. The guy claims to have 23 years under his belt, i doubt that he just up and quit on a whim...
I THINK there are 3 sides to this story, Millis, the OP, and the TRUTH.
And Admin, please no more deleting posts that are not even close to bickering.
Besides, we're truck drivers. It's in our nature! -
Nice to see Millis is still the bottom feeder they were when I started my career with them 17 years ago....
Mikey still a coke snorting little puke is he, or did he clean himself up ??diesel_weasel, Hanadarko, hellomcflywakeup and 1 other person Thank this. -
Hanadarko, hellomcflywakeup and groundpounder Thank this.
-
man the industry has changed..diesel_weasel Thanks this. -
I can't comment on anything personal about Mike cause I dont know.
We spent about an hr or 2 together and that was all. That was about 2yrs ago.
I lost much respect for Millis overall now.
They used to be one of the best. When I got my CDL in 1989, they were at the top
of the 'great' carriers to work for....But times have changed..
Per Mike himself, end of 2009 they had a 72% turn over rate....
Like I said before, some people work at Millis and seem happy.
Maybe we need to check back with them after a few years?
-
The one positive that came out of it was back then they were a test fleet for KW the trucks had all the bells, whistles, and latest gadgets KW had to offer they were fully loaded...Hanadarko Thanks this. -
....
Some of their biggest fans are fairly newbies.....so that's why I said "lets check in with them in a few years"..diesel_weasel Thanks this. -
