    I was wondering what an ideal age is for a used truck. Looking to have someone else take the big hit( depreciation) driving it off the lot! The truck would be used OTR.

    Depends on what you want really, *most* of us given the choice would go pre 2004 or pre emmission...As for depreciation I better defer that to the experts I have been out of the O/O game since 2001 and have not kept up with that stuff no idea what has changed and what hasn't..

    My best buy's have been at auctions on used trucks with under 100 000 miles.
    Usually 40 to 50% the price of a new unit.
    At the dealers they cost at least half more.
