get a camp stove and a wok. I can eat different stir frys every night and only takes about 10 mins prep, 5-6 min cook and 5 mins clean up. You can have leftovers for lunch. Veggie and a stir fry packet is about $4 for 2 huge flavoral meals. Add some chicken of beef for another $5-8.

That's a great plan. Cooking fresh is always best though. So, don't take the short cut and buy one of those "Stirfry Kits". Their salt and preservative contents would shock a billy goat, not to mention the heart of any HBP trucker out there.

    Just my 2 cents.:biggrin_25525:

I have a stainless steel french press that makes 2 1/2 big mugs of coffee, I bought it at Starbucks a couple years ago after getting tired of replacing the glass ones I kept breaking. I love this thing, keeps the extra coffee warm too.

THe coleman cooler is designed to hold what's inside at either 40 below the temp outside the box, or 100 degrees over what's in the box. A great thing, if your truck doesn't have a fridge.I own one, but now my truck as a fridge too. Oh, well.

I have a microwave, as well, since I have a 1500watt inverter. (I use a 700w microwave cheaper for both the microwave and the inverter, and works OK.)

I also have a Burton lunchbox which is essentially a slow cooker. I cook all kinds of things in it. In fact they ahve a cookbook out for it, that is available at a lot of truckstops. Last I saw it was at the Pilot in Florence NJ. The recepies are amazing. Of course it'll require some prep. But I can make rice dishes in it in about 20 minutes, for example.

I've taken to having the family cook for me as if I was there, and putting the leftovers up in plastic dishes.... say kolwhip containers or whatnot. I keep em cold and nucke em when the time comes. Saves lotsa money and you don't feel so far from home.

    Cool... I've seen them.
The only thing is, my coffee cup is 54oz (LadyK has one too) and we fill them up twice a day and most of the time I end up polishing off one of LadyK's too....

I have been thinking about going to work for "Flying J". That way I can drive that 40,000 gallon tanker truck labeled "COFFEE". I just haven't figured out how to get a tube between the tank and the cab that is DOT approved... LOL...

Lady K and Sonbell Thank this.

I bring cans of pork & beans along with cans of corn and cans of ravioli.
I don't cook just eat right from the can.
    also peanut butter crackers bread.
peanut butter will last a long time along with the canned food.
