Hi, I have a question that has entered into my mind. I should be assigned a mentor this week with swift. I wanted to ask though, How do you get prescription medications while on the road? Do some truck stops have pharmacies? Or do you need to find like a store to pull in to, or should I work on getting them early?

    Thanks,

    Ms.Jesse Thanks this.

Get them early if you can. There are truck stops that have pharmacies but they are few and far between.

I talked to my doctor and had all of my meds turned into 90 day prescriptions, that way I only have to deal with them 4 times a year on my hometime.

I have "medicinal cocaine" physician prescribed for my drowsiness. I have no problem finding it at most truckstops.

I imagine "medical marijuana" wouldn't be too hard to find at a truck stop either. :biggrin_25523:

No, truck stops don't have pharmacies. Walmarts are convenient for truckers. I always filled my prescriptions there. You just ask and they'll transfer your records from the last store filled. Try to keep track, but it's on the bottle.

I always got a wow and big eyes when they looked at the computer, lol. I must have the biggest file on record with different store accounts. You been here, here, here, here, there.....

It's a good idea to try and fill all prescriptions at the same time. I usually call ahead and give 20 minutes to 1 hour advance notice. Most good GPS units have the Walmarts listed with phone numbers.

Walmart is only good when you use insurance and/or $4 generic prescriptions.
When I got sick and lost my insurance, Walmart wanted $245 for one prescription that has no generic equivalent. I went to RiteAid and got the same prescription for $195.

Iowa 80 has one IIRC. They also have a chiropractor.

Use Walmart or Walgreens. You will have access in most areas. The 90 day prescription thing is a good idea also.
