So i got some glasses and they help me out at night.

But i still am extremly nervous driving when it gets dark out in the truck. And especially when driving in heavy traffic.

Does one ever get over the nervousnes/scared feeling?

I tryvto get enouh sleep but still after 8 hours and after 12 my body gets tired.

You should always be cautious, but, scared is not good.

What kind of vision troubles do you have? If you've been certified as fit to drive your sight shouldn't be a problem. None of us can see as well in the dark.

Do you really get tired, or, are you so bored you just feel tired. Stimulate the brain. Stop and get your heart beating again by walking around some. There are many ways to combat fatigue, you just have to figure out what works for you.

Never had the nervousness in traffic so I cant answer that one, on the tired issue if you cant hang now then how will you be able to hang with working up to 14 hrs a day? Not trying to knock you just giving you something to think about. Not everyone is cut out to be a truck driver.

You are going to be doing a lot of driving at night. You also are going to be sleeping all kinds of odd hours constantly. If you can cope with that then go for it. The nervousness will eventually go away but the traffic won't!

Just like anything new, it is likely to take a while to get used to it. This is really something only you can answer. If this is really what you want to do, then give it some time, things should get easier.

But if you are looking for an excuse to "pull the plug," I suppose this is as good an excuse as any. It really is up to you.

I STILL don't like driving at night. No real reason for me to do so given the kind of freight I haul, so I just don't do it.

Start the day at 6AM, end at 8PM. Another plus is that parking is super easy at 8.

Boo Boo you said that you got some glasses and they helped, so im thinking youre talking about eye strain when youre driving at night
what might help is to clean the windows outside and inside youd be surprised how dirty the inside gets and if you smoke clean the inside twice a day
eye strain will lead to overall fatiuge very quickly

hers a recipe for window cleaner that ive found works better than any store bought
    in a 2 litre bottle mix;
    2 oz. of rubbing alcohol
    2 oz. of ammonia
    shake
then add 12 0z. of water (distilled works better then tap)
put in spray bottle clean windows also shake contents before use otherwise the alcohol will settle to the bottom

It's not just you Everett. It's just DARK!:biggrin_2559:

I understand what you mean by this, and yes, if you are not used to it, it does seem a lot different at night. Particularly at oh dark thirty when there is little to no traffic around. . .

The majority of my drive is at night. 8pm- 8 am . Plenty of rest is important. sometimes chew gum. Always have to keep your eyes moving and check your mirrors often. Tunnel vision is the worst.
