Running a flatland dedicate run, where should I look for fuel efficiency?

    a 13 or an 18 speed will be more fuel effiant and more driver friendly

    62mph nutured speed is going to hurt his mpgs

    Volvo engines suck

    I used to start off in 10 speeds very well and had one of the lowest consumption rates in the fleet when I was doing it. It's not easy and requires a very "granny-like" approach to starting off and getting up to speed. That said, my consumption rates dropped even further when I "graduated" at the time to an 18 speed.

    In respect to DEF fluid, where should I check to ask about availability? Believe it or not, I've never run a truck with a DEF tank. Are there typically separate pumps for DEF at a place like a flying J or how does that work? How much DEF does a truck typically go through?

    Thank you by the way to every one who has posted so far. You're all helping a great deal and I very much appreciate it.

    My local Paclease dealer has bulk DEF which they sell to their customers @ a discounted rate. Hopefully who ever you lease from will treat you the same way.

    Back to the mans original ? ,,, primary concern being fuel mileage .
    I would get a dd13, guys around here are getting really good fuel mileage results with these. Seem to be staying out of the shop also.
    Why would a guy recommend a big bore engine if he is always running flat land.
