which do you think is better? I think just using the USB aircard would be better cause you wont have to charge it? but the Mi-Fi you can connect multiple devices.... What about the signal, which would have a better a signal? any help is appreciated! Monday I start my orientation with Werner and I am wanting some sort of internet connection on the road.

Air Cards and Mifi is the same thing, the only differances are you can do more with the mifi AND THEY ARE FREE. You have to pay for a aircard and cant do as much. Signal is the same....

You need to better secure your laptop then. I bought a mount that clamps under the passenger seat. Costs $200 USD but it's worth the investment knowing your laptop isn't going to pull a Steven King on you and fly across the cab.

yea true. I was just thinking of the hassle it is to charge that stupid thing but maybe they have gotten better since I last had one. As soon as I start working ill be able to get it since my verzion account has been shut down cause I couldnt pay my bill.

if you read it the article that Rick posted says that the device cant be plugged into the computer and broadcast a signal at the same time. You would need to get a AC adapter to do that. But still that would be better cause then you would never have to worry about it and leave it running all the time. So buying the cord will save you some trouble.

I read through the first page, but...

    I have the MiFi2000.

Yes, it acts as a router when not plugged in to the computer's USB port.
It can service up to 5 wifi devices.

Mine works plugged into the computer as well. I usually plug it in to a usb slot on an inverter though so I don't have to move it around with me. I mount it with velcro so it's out of the way and always visible.

Personally, I go for the hotspot purely because I use Linux a majority of the time. When you use an aircard you have to go through quite a few steps to get it to work usually, but it can be done. With a hotspot it's just like connecting to any other router. There was one router setting I had to change to get a more consistent connection with Linux but that was it.

I was skeptical of the quality of mobile wifi but have been very pleased. At home I have a FiOS 25/25 line which makes using anything less usually make me angry. It works well though, especially with 4G. It's nice now that I drive local in LA, I always have 4G.
