Sunoco finally contacted me today to make a formal offer of employment, all my medicals came back. Unfortunately I took the job with Sentinel last Tuesday and was actually at the refinery getting loaded when they called. I hated to turn them down because I was very happy with the interview, but I just couldn't afford to wait for work anymore and I really like the Lake Charles area better than the Beaumont area. He was kind enough to let me know that if I ever change my mind or if Sentinel doesn't work out to give him a call and I told him he would be my FIRST call, and that is the truth.
Great jobs in Texas

This is in panhandle area. Amarillo is ok town. Just get away from I 40 area. Too many nasty OTR drivers.
Pampa is smaller buy nice town. Gets cold in winter. Like a few days around zero. Not ND cold at all. Windy. Get satellite radio if you want to listen to anything but church. They may have you do many different jobs in different equipment. But that is good. Makes you more valuable to them and others. Once you get used to hours you will be fine. And fat checks make up for lot of crap. Good luck!!
Seattle206 Thanks this. -
Great dilemma to have isn't it? Glad to hear you got going and have some contacts to fall back on. Go get em'.BigJohn54 Thanks this.

Yeah I drove through the area back about 8 years ago on my way back to IL. Correct sir on getting used to those hours lol... The email said 70-100 Avg I wonder what the starting wage will be.. I'm thinking $20.00 hr would be good for a newbie.. I could live with that ma man...

I would expect more like 14/hr from halliburton starting out.
-
From what I have seen in TX, I wouldn't expect more than $16 and it could be less. This isn't ND which is 25% more on average. -
Ouch! Well in 13 hrs I will know for sure.

Hi thanks to all for a great thread. I thought I would post what I am looking for in case someone can make a referral fee, or if anyone knows of something and feels benevolent.
I am an experienced hazmat tanker driver interested in hauling crude or other oilfield cdl driving. I have been driving trucks for 20 yrs, have lots of verifiable experience with various petroleum and chemical tankers, van freight, doubles, etc.
My ideal situation would be a company (or contract) driver position with a high hourly plus OT without benefits, within an hour or so of a big airport, working 70+ hrs/wk for 2-4 weeks, then a week off.
You can probably tell I want to make maximum income while on the job, and fly home for a week off. My wife has benefits.
If there is a situation like this, one thing I want to do is talk to a driver who is already doing it and has received his pay. I can't afford to work for free.
I have access to an RV if it is profitable to live that way.
I can live anywhere, but RVing in ND in winter probably won't work. I like the idea of Ft Worth, San Antonio, or Houston but not stuck on that. I have a clear 3yr mvr but not perfect before that. Probably not good Sunoco or Sentinel, but I don't need the benefits anyway.
Thank you in advance for any help. My email is rdhamill at gmail dot com -
I'vs seen work hours set up with 2wks on and a Week off in Fracing. These guys starting probably take home 3-4k a month. Personally, I would look into Crude hauling in either Midland or San Antonio. These guys make 60-75k annually with less hours and work. The only thing is I don't know if hey offer th days off like you're wanting.

Thats exactly what they start at here in E TX. Not sure if it would be any different in the panhandle.
