when i started driving a mixer i drove an old dead front R model mack for about 3 years then i went to a 6x6 oshkosh, if there was somthing in front of of the truck you couldnt see it till it was about 8 feet in front of you. lots of blind spot in front and on the right side

Wow, this must come naturally to you. I drove a Mack CH for four years, then the first time I even sat in a 379EXHD I just started laughing, couldn't believe the difference, and couldn't imagine takin that sucker bobtail around a corner, much less with a trailer on it. Maybe I'm just not a very good driver...

My bad. I know the 387 are aeros. I just figured the short nose 379s n 388s would be consided hoods due to the square flatnose style. I know my 379 sn turns well, easy to manuver, backs great. Opps, i forgot to mention its a daycab. :)

Lol thanks, I'm sure I could get used to them if I could spend some time in one, and I hope I could seeing as they are my favorite trucks...

If you can't count the bugs on the deflector when sitting in the drivers seat, the hood is too long. :biggrin_25523:

At one time JB Hunt only had cabovers. I spoke with one of their long time drivers not long after they made the switch. He said that there were a lot of drivers damaging the front end of their trucks. These were Freightliners with the short hoods. Some had gotten so used to not having a hood, that it was difficult for some to make the adjustment. According to the driver with whom I spoke, JB Hunt had classes to teach drivers how to drive with a hood.

You start you turns a little sooner and swing out a little wider.... :biggrin_2558:

it's not that diffacult, so don't be scared. I know the feeling of "hood shock" but once you do a trip in the truck, you will be just as comfortable.
