It was the so called 'good ole days' that got us here. 1970-80's, Hammer down, 24 hours non stop driving, outlaw mentality, etc etc. It all brought the attention to the industry that we did not need or want. Now we are guilty until proven innocent, drive 62mph, have sleep studies and wonder why? It may be tough to swallow but its our own faults.

My grandpa told me the good old days are considered "good" because they're gone. Pyschologists say people remember past events fondly because as part of our evolution (or God inspired creation)(or both) we tend to forget most negative experience (unless they are EXTREMELY negative) and remember the positives. I look back on my time in the Navy(91-96) favorably now, but there were LOTS of negatives. Haven't quite gotten to the point of a favorable view of being a firefighter/paramedic yet, but maybe one day the negatives will fade and I'll remember the good fondly. I can't remember the song, but I like the line, "These ARE the good old days". Stay thirsty my friends, AND keep your glass half full.

Triple digits, yellow jackets or black beauties, 14 different licenses, 80,000 lbs. in the first 22' of a 42' trailer, dodging scales, straight stacks, black smoke, air-assist steering, 13 speeds or a good 4x4, a pyrometer cuz' we changed a button in the fuel pump, not pluggin in a laptop.

I knew people who ran for 3 years on expired plates and got away with it.

    Pretty scary.

It was fun being an outlaw. Put a tiger in yer' tank.:biggrin_255:
