I feel the same way about offering help as the OP. I used to like it when a driver spotted me in a back up when i was still getting the hang of it. I would allways offer help to others as often as I could. Then the ways of the world changed my opinion on helping. I was in Laredo earlier this year and as I was walking accross the lot I saw a driver trying to back into a spot, so I waited a minute then when he GOAL I asked if he would like me to spot him. We were standing next to a new peterbilt and I said to him " I can stand here and keep an eye out and make sure you dont hit this truck " . His exact words were " I aint gonna hit you ####, F you " and then he started walking back to his truck. We were nowhere near my "####" and I said this as he was walking away. Anyway I thought screw him I am going to stand here anyway cos he couldnt walk backwards let alone back up his rig. I wanted to be there to make sure if he did hit the pete then he wouldnt just take off as thats the kind of guy i bet he was! After about 20 minutes a couple of guys had stopped to see if he needed help and he told them the same thing. So we stood there and watched for 10 more miutes until he finally got it in, crooked as hell, then told us all " see i didnt hit no #### and dont need help". Well ever since then i just leave drivers alone, I dont need that kind of attitude. The only thing the next driver who speaks to me that way will have to worry about is that the ambulance doors dont hit him as they load him in on the guerny!

Only time I help is when they are close to ripping off the stainless bumper I put on after a Swift driver ripped my old rusty one off!!

That is 1/2 the reason, the other half is the lack of sides on the trailer. I have a heck of a time getting my tanker lined up straight in a spot, nothing to judge by. I can get into the spot easily, but it's crooked as heck sometimes LOL

Lol! I like it when they park 3 deep beside a Cat Scale or outside the end of a line and they all leave in the morning.

Usually the last there is last to leave and they do look like fools. Looked good last night.

Not true in all cases. You would be surprised at some of the places we have to back our skateboards into. Not having the sidewalls blocking our line of vision actually helps me in some instances. Of course the 12 to 13 foot wide piece of equipment on the bed can be a pain in the rear sometimes.

A little harder backing a heavy loaded flat or step with spread axles in some places because of the room needed.

The only thing that makes a flatbed hard to back up is getting the trailer to turn when you need it to. Those spread axles won't turn quick like a tandem axle. You gotta cut the wheel hard and make it turn. A dump-valve helps when they're actually hooked up.
