well thanks for you help jbs drivers from my issues im having here at jbs. i have called darrin 2 times today and left voicemails and as of 5:11 pm NO RESPONSE. getting very frustrated here. not sure how much longer im gonna be here. i have sent messages to fleet 19 asking to have either darrin or scott call me, no response there either and now left voicemails at darrins line to no response. ugh dont know thank god im headed home for the weekend. maybe some here could help a kinda new guy here with jbs, been here since the end of june 2011. heres my question, if you sit at a jbs beef plant waiting on a load to be ready and you sit for 34.50 hrs whats the driver entitled to for pay for sitting for 34.50 hrs? i was told im being paid 7 hrs of detention. im being paid for 7 hrs, thats a joke.

well with that and the lack of miles, and the major lack of communication with this company. i think its gonna be time to move on. making $300 bucks for 2 weeks is bull and cant do it anymore. been driving since 1997 and this is the lowest i have ever been paid to work. so im gonna give darrin till monday afternoon to call me and fix this issue. yea jbs has great health insurance, but what the hell good is it if you cant afford to have it because your evil fm keeps your mileage in the toilet. $300 bucks for 2 weeks. well anyways im giving them till monday to either fix it or im gonna request to be routed to greeley and they can have there truck back and i will go on my way. the sit and wait time here and not being paid for it is a MAJOR JOKE. just shows what your time is worth to this company. ask anyone there in greeley if they sat for 34.50 hrs what they would expect to be paid. or getting to a customer and being held for 4 hrs or more to unload a dam trailer. well anyways i think im gonna head back to hauling tankers as this isnt going to work. what a shame, these companies need to wake the *ell up and see why people leave, but i guess its cheaper to get a student in this truck versus a experienced driver. well anyways guys you all have a great night and be safe. by tuesday i will know what im doing. either it will be fixed or they can have there shiney *ss kenworth. what good is it to live out on the road for 3-6 weeks, with little pay. oh i know but we gave you a brand new kenworth. my thoughts big whoopied dooo who cares
Jarhed1964 and DocRox Thank this. -
I'm not saying this an a-hole way at all, but the reality of trucking doesn't have to be what so many think it is. I know it's common practice in this industry to just accept the things out of our control like detention and not getting paid for it, but I'm here to tell you there are still companies out here that care about their drivers and their time.
Again not being arrogant here, but the company I work for pays us between 15 and 17 dollars an hour for any time after an hour when you arrive, the pay rate depends on seniority. Just this morning I was sent to a customer who could not receive my full load, I do bulk hauling and this was to a coal mine and I had to wait for shift change. I sat for 5 hours, the first hour is free the other 4 paid me 60 dollars plus the load pay at 110 dollars, so the total for the load was 170 dollars. I grabbed another load after this that paid 50, so my total for the day was right around 220 with a start time of 4:30 am and off by 3 pm.
Keep your head up because things will get better and fight for that detention time, you, and anyone else who sit for over 30 hours deserves to get paid handsomely for that BS!!!runningman0661, DocRox, JohnBoy and 1 other person Thank this. -
i do agree with you trashtrucker1265. and thats exactly i think where im headed, back to work on tankers i have experience hauling liquid hazmat, and doing dry bulk tanks. i have hazmat, twic, and a passport. im getting really close to calling it a day here with this company. i know what im worth and i know its a hell of alot more then 300 bucks for 2 week pay and i know my time is worth more the 7 hrs of pay out of 34.5 hrs. hell people working fast food could probably make at least 300 buck in 2 weeks. just getting very frustrated and annoyed here. when i call and leave voice mails and send qualcomm messages and no one can be bothered to return a call it shows me what they think and that is they dont.
DocRox Thanks this. -
SRVMCMXC, Take I-71 to exit 2,(Zorn Ave) turn toward river, Zorn to River Road, left on River Road. Follow River Road for about 4 miles, Turn on Witherspoon Street, this is at the overpass to your left, after you go under the overpass turn left on Adams Ave, follow Adams to Cable Street, Right on Cable, JBS yard on left about 1/2 block up. There is a trailer wash out there, just fuel trailer. A little dinner up the toward the plant, not much in appearnce, good food.
srvmcmxc Thanks this.
