got it in already, so no other way to check the total amount of oil in the system, I'd say no more than a oz or maybe 2 came out when I opened it, if that?

buddy of mine is telling me I need to vacuum the system to check for leaks, then I can add 134, as I have read here in other posts.

is it necessary to change this other stuff? only the clutch went bad...

" Always replace the receiver drier in a thermostatic expansion valve system or accumulator in an orifice
tube system. They contain desiccant material which absorbs moisture and acid contamination from the
A/C system. These components cannot be cleaned by flushing "

ok so now I've taken out another 4 oz from the new comp. that should leave about 6 oz in it, (comes with 10oz from factory ) I'm figuring the system still has maybe 4 or 5 oz in the lines and other components.

whattaya think, good to go, or should I take out more?

Yah, my crystal ball is a little fuzzy but that should be fine, you are in the ball park. No you don't have to change the receiver drier. You only change the expansion valve when it fails. (you don't have the accumulator with orifice tube, that is a totally different type of system.) With the clutch failure, no metal gets into the system. I wouldn't worry about the drier. Chances are the a/c lines are seized anyway at the drier, then they would have to be changed too. (then the next connection from those lines are seized too and a terrible chain reaction starts and you end up having to replace the entire a/c system!!!) Best to just leave well-enough alone. Yes, you have to vacuum the system for a proper charge. The cans you have are really only for topping up. A simple vacuum and charge at any shop should be only a couple hundred bucks including refrigerant.

I am sorry to hear about your experiences. I have to say I am shocked to hear how long these repairs were taking. I have never heard of such a thing! Was this taking place at the same dealer?

so your warranty was for 8 years , 300,000 miles or 200 hours of service, which ever came first?

and you brought to the dealer every time?

hope you didn't buy from Arrow truck sales...

they tried the ole switcheroo on me, was going to buy a 2006 int 9400 from them, looked at the truck , was in great shape, said I'll take it, should I put down a down payment? the sales man said, no no don;t worry about it, I have it in the computer.

came the next day with cash, ready to purchase, the guy told me one of the other sales guys sold it...

but we have this one over here, it's a great truck !

I told em to shove it and I would never do business with them again.

heavyd, so I got a buddy of mine who doeas hvac, we pumped down the system for about an hour, no leaks, put in about 46 oz of 134a. but it was no more than 50 degrees at the time, and I think you said we need 3 lb's of 134a, so I'd be about 2 oz short...

so it gets cold, but not like it used to, my buddy says we need to jump out the low pressure switch so it will take more 134a or something to that effect...?

is this so, and how is it done?

Well, we use a machine to install it. Basically once the system starts to get full the pressure will be 60 or more psi depending how cold it is outside. When the system is running the low side will dip down to 10 or so psi, so you should be able to add some in then. Never heard of jumping switches like that to add.
