A new virus has just been discovered that has been classified by Microsoft as the most destructive ever. This virus was discovered yesterday afternoon by McAfee . This virus simply destroys Sector Zero from the hard disk, where vital information for its functioning are stored. This virus acts in the following manner: It sends itself automatically to all contacts on your list with the title: "A Card for You".
As soon as the supposed virtual card is opened the computer freezes so that the user has to reboot. When the ctrl+alt+ del keys or the reset button are pressed, the virus destroys Sector Zero, thus permanently destroying the hard disk. Yesterday in just a few hours this virus caused panic in New York , according to news broadcast by CNN.
This alert was received by an employee of Microsoft itse lf.
So don't open any mails with subject: "A Virtual Card for You." As soon as you get the mail, delete it !! Even if you know the sender !!!
Sorry, tried to change the font size during copy/paste and it didn't work.

I have been getting emails for several months with "A neighbor/admirer/class-mate/friend/mate has sent you an e-card" as the Subject line. They all containded hyper-links to malicious files. This is the first time I have heard that the emails contain the actal virus as an attachment.
I use a program called "MailWasher Pro", it "pings" my email servers and shows me a text "preview" of what is there, allowing me the option of deleating the email at the server level if necessary. If any email contains a virus, MailwasherPro recognises it and I don't have to D/L the email to get rid of the email, all I have to do is push a button, and it's done. -
Yes I have been getting the same emails, tons of them. They just quite a few days ago. Now I see why, they took a trip to new york.

I did recieve the same e-mail telling me of this virus. But luckily I haven't gotten any tainted e-mails.

Here is a new one that I have been getting in various forms
LMAO, I cant believe you put this video online. Everyone can see your face there. LOL go look at it
With a youtube address to click on.
I started getting these a little while after the greeting card emails quite coming. -
I have been getting the same!
and am getting the CARD thing too...unreal or Roadkill are you sending me a card? lol... -
These new emails are so tempting.
But my curiosity, has to be self contained. LOL -
Number one rule, if you think its malicious, delete it, no matter what. I get a whole slew of these daily, and never open them. These are tricks that they are using now to get past the virus protection on your system.
The virus is not embedded in the email, but actually sitting on the server that the link takes you to. Never click a link that is an IP address!!! You can darn well bet that there is something nasty sitting on the other end.
There are also emails going around with PDF files in them that are viral.
I know that My ISP is going to a new spam/virus filter this next week to combat this issue. -
I never open emails from folks I don't know. Then again, I don't open emails from a few folks I do know because their systems always seem to have viruses on them. Thanks for the information!!
