very informative, Thanks

Hey LUZON were you checks from running two loads a day or five every to days?
-
Well, I'm finally taking the plunge. Originally, I was going to head to North Dakota, but the housing situation sounds pretty bleak right now. Plus, it sounds like I might only get a non-driving job over the winter because I am a newb fresh out of CDL school. Instead, I packed up my boots and CDL Class A license and just drove down to San Diego from northern California last night (visiting family). Tomorrow, I will be heading to Texas to hopefully get me an oil field job actually driving. I figure a driving job in Texas will be the best for my experience and might open doors for me in the future. Based on posts that I have been reading on here, I figure Nabors is as good as any place to start bangin on doors. Y'all wish me luck.

Good luck hifi keep us posted

hey HIFI, Nabors had a billboard on I20 looking for CDL drivers just outside Midland. i have a list of about 1/2 dozen local companys (Nabors,Key,Sun Coast, ect) that i'm going to see this morning or am waiting on reply's to emails. i'm also going to try the places Svoray posted. i'll let everybody know how the first day of job searching went.
HIFIJIM Thanks this. -
Good luck HIFI and Platers. Can't wait to hear how things work out. TX is on my short list of places to try once I get my CDL.

Best of luck!
If you need help with directions or something let me know. -
have you ever heard of Lonestar Distribution? they offered me a job 4 on 2 off, on call. i would be hauling stuff to well sites with a drop deck flatbed and a forklift on the back. they pay by the load and they do run log books. the guy who interviewed me gave me some pretty high pay numbers. they seem like they have a high turnover rate, but i could be working by the end of the week. i put in several other app's too. there is an ad on craigslist about a water hauling job in Odessa (no name, just an address, 1601 e pearl st) i will ck out tomorrow morning.

Sorry dude, I don't know much about Lonestar Distribution but it sounds more like a courier company than an oilfield outfit. If worst come to worst, you can use it to get the dollars flowing until you find something else. Personally, I would kick over a few more rocks before I took the first offer. Now speaking of Water hauling, there is a water company over on 158 (Garden City Hwy) that's always got a CDL driver needed sign posted.HIFIJIM Thanks this.
