Well signed on here few weeks ago but just getting to this introduction part of it, name is Aaron, or AT Wolf as the handle goes, Not a 100% newbie, did go through the S.W.I.F.T (insert joke here) academy back in 2007, got out 4 months later due to my father's illness but now i am looking at getting back out on the road. Last few years been a Distribution Center Supervisor, and among my other job descriptions was a yard hostler, since i was the only one in the company with a CDL, so haven't been on the road, but still got to meet a lot of awesome truckers, and some real ######### as well.
Always had a love and respect for truckers since going for a ride with my grandpa when i was a kid in his cab over, he is a retired trucker himself of 45 years, so i like to think it kind of is in the blood. Being in charge of a warehouse, i have seen my fair share of idiot's come here driving these awesome machines. in the few years i have been here, i actually had to go outside, and help 2 drivers back a truck into my dock which had no other trucks around, no obstacles or things to get in the way (did i mention they barely spoke english), but none the less, over the years, i can't believe who they give licenses too these days, so guess the trucking industry needs a good ol' boy to try and offset all the wanna be's out here making the rest of us and the industry look bad.
Been reading a lot of these threads and i have to tip my hats off to you guys, I see some people who whine a lot but i have seen a lot of positive information for some of us just getting our foot in the door so thanks to everyone for that, it's helped me narrow down the choices on which company to go work for, and showed me what it really takes to be an O/O, which for me, was one of the things i was ultimatly considering but i know i have no business sense and i think it would end in disaster for me, i know my limits and gotta give kuddo's to you guys who do make it work. In any case, looking forward to getting to know everyone and maybe bumping into a few of ya on the road sometime when i do make that push to finally get back behind the wheel again.
look out everyone, the wolf is here!
